JOB SUMMARY

The Security Manager of the Edgewood Center (EC) is responsible for the daily coordination of front desk personnel. The Security Manager also assists the Property Manager with other duties as needed, particularly during any emergency situations.


MEASURES OF SUCCESS

The Security Manager is successful when building security operations are consistently maintained, safety incidents and policy violations are addressed promptly, front desk staff are effectively supervised and trained, required documentation is accurate and complete, and residents, guests, and staff experience a safe, secure, and professionally managed environment.


CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Hourly/Non-Exempt


SHIFT: Monday - Friday 2 pm - 10 pm


COMPENSATION: $20-$25 per hour

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Securing the Building

Ensure compliance of all residents, guests and contractors with entry and exit procedures for the building. Hourly floor patrol to ensure safety and compliance with building rules and regulations, particularly regarding nonsmoking policies and trespassing, or any safety concern. Check all stairways and doors, and around the perimeter of the building.


2. Safety Systems

Monitor the fire alarm system for the building. Monitor the elevator system for the building. Monitor the video coverage of hallways, kitchens and public areas, as well as front and back doorways. Direct emergency personnel to proper locations. Work with maintenance staff when needed to handle emergency situations.

  

3. Front Desk Staffing

Responsible for scheduling and supervising front desk staff. Ensure communication log is being completed with each shift, that daily instruction is documented, and that all incidents are immediately and accurately reported. Prepare all employee time sheets.


4. Front Desk Procedures

Handle all training and monthly meetings and updates for front desk staff. Work with management to ensure that current procedures are being followed, and that the current procedures are meeting the needs of the property and community. Maintain guest and vendor on-site log and procedures. Ensure standards of confidentiality and professionalism. Alert management to any current or developing concerns regarding residents, guests or vendors.


The Security Manager must be highly organized, calm, and able to administer and report on all property rules and policies. Maintain a professional and respectful relationship with residents, vendors, contractors and other staff members.


QUALIFICATIONS


Required

· Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.

· Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies and high-pressure situations.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to enforce policies professionally and consistently.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and security monitoring systems.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.


Preferred

· Experience supervising security, concierge, front desk, or customer service staff. 

· Knowledge of emergency response procedures and incident management. 

· Experience with access control, security camera systems, and building operations.

Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of one (3) years of experience in security, property management, front desk operations, hospitality, customer service, or related experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Property Management, or a related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible security or property operations experience.
  • Professional security or emergency response training.
