Senior Storage Software Engineer

About the Role

• We are looking for an experienced Storage Software Engineer with 12-15 years of software engineering experience to design, architect, and build highly scalable Block, File, and Object Storage platforms in Kubernetes environments.
• This is a deeply hands-on engineering role that combines systems programming, distributed systems, storage architecture, and cloud-native technologies. You will be responsible for building production-grade storage software with a strong focus on performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and data durability.
• The ideal candidate can take complex storage challenges end-to-end—from architecture and design to coding, testing, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and production deployment—while collaborating with other engineers to continuously evolve and strengthen the storage platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed Block, File, and Object Storage systems.

• Architect highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance storage platforms.

• Write and review production-quality code using C/C++ and/or Go.

• Build Kubernetes-native storage solutions, including CSI, controllers, operators, and APIs.

• Develop and optimize storage data-plane and control-plane components.

• Lead architecture development and solve complex technical problems spanning multiple systems and domains.

• Define the future state and technical roadmap of the storage platform, balancing near-term delivery with long-term scalable architecture.

• Identify common patterns and build reusable technology solutions rather than solving only individual use cases.

• Drive modernization of the technology stack and influence adoption of new architectures and technologies across teams.

• Proactively identify design gaps related to performance, security, reliability, availability, failover, recovery, maintainability, and scalability.

• Lead architecture and design reviews and create high-quality technical and architecture documentation.

• Mentor engineers and raise the technical and engineering standards of the broader team.

• Debug complex issues across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and storage layers.

What You’ll Do

• Lead complex engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams, systems, and technical domains.

• Shape technical strategy and help translate long-term product vision into an executable engineering roadmap.

• Use AI coding agents to your advantage to boost productivity and lead us to the future of AI native engineering. Capable of giving the right context and detailed requirements to the Agent.

• Shepherd multiple teams through architecture, development, testing, and production delivery.

• Act as an engineering multiplier by building reusable platforms, frameworks, tools, and processes.

• Influence technical direction beyond the immediate team and advocate for solutions that can be adopted broadly.

• Balance incremental improvements with transformational architectural changes when appropriate.

• Drive technology decisions that result in measurable improvements in reliability, performance, scalability, engineering velocity, and customer experience.

• Take ownership of business and customer outcomes rather than simply executing predefined requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or Master  degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

• Strong software engineering experience in storage and/or distributed systems.

• Proficiency in C/C++, Go, or Rust

• Strong understanding of Linux, concurrency, networking, and storage I/O.

• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures.

• Knowledge of technologies such as NVMe, iSCSI, NFS, S3, SPDK, CSI, UBD.

• Proven ability to architect and lead complex technical projects across teams.

• Strong communication, technical leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
