The Office of the City Council President-elect Zeke Cohen is hiring a Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) to oversee the strategy, coordination, and execution of the City Council President’s agenda in close collaboration with the Chief of Staff. The DCoS serves as a strategic, operational, and political advisor to the City Council President, overseeing key departments including Finance and Budget, Oversight, General Counsel, and housing and economic development policy. All responsibilities are aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the City Council President’s Office.

JOB SUMMARY
The Receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors, answering and directing phone calls, managing appointments, and providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the front office. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and multitasking skills, maintains a professional demeanor, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while handling confidential information with discretion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greet and welcome visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls.
- Respond to emails and general inquiries promptly.
- Check in visitors and notify staff of arrivals.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail and deliveries.
- Process outgoing mail and shipments.
- Maintain office supplies and place orders when needed.
- Direct concerns to the appropriate staff member.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in

- At least five years of experience in

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of:

BACKGROUND CHECK

PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-MONTH mandatory probation.

This position is subject to Article I, Section 7-10 of the Baltimore City Code, which mandates that the incumbent both reside and be a registered voter of Baltimore City at the time of appointment or sign a declaration of intent to become a City resident and registered voter within 6 months of the effective date of their appointment. Failure to comply with the declaration of intent will result in immediate termination. You will also be required to complete a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7-7, 7-8, and 7-9 of the City Ethics Law. The initial financial disclosure must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
