Sous Chef 👨🍳✨ - Full-Time
Willow Valley Communities - Manor Campus
To provide an exceptional dining experience to our Residents by actively participating in meal preparation, cooking and overseeing the activities of the kitchen team to assure food is properly prepared and cooked during the meal period.
🧡This position serves as a bridge between Residents and Culinary Services Management and is responsible for kitchen activities in the absence of the Chef. 🧡

Wage 💰
- $21/hr + based on experience
Responsibilities:
- Assigns kitchen job tasks and provides oversight on proper food handling, preparation and cooking methods to assure menu selections are prepared in a timely manner and meets established quality standards.
- Actively participates in daily stand-up meetings with kitchen staff. Conducts these meetings in the absence of the Chef.
- Monitors and directs kitchen personnel on proper portion control, reading and following recipes, proper knife use, and proper ways to safely handle food.
- Conducts training programs on cleanliness, proper hygiene, and food safety in accordance with the designated FOCUS in-service requirements.
- Inspects prepared food and follows established standards for product taste testing prior to opening to Residents and during the meal period. Assures each item meets all standards relating to proper food temperatures, taste, and presentation.
- Identifies food items that do not meet established quality standards and takes appropriate action to remove or replace the item. Alerts Culinary Services Management in situations when this occurs.
- Creates “specials” and assists with recipe development. Modifies recipes to meet quality standards and submits recipes for revision.
- Completes inventory and ordering duties as assigned by the Chef.
- Responsible to assure proper records are maintained for food production and ordering within the food management system.
- Maintains a cleaning schedule to assure work areas are kept clean and sanitary.
- Enforces the proper operation of equipment to ensure personal safety and avoid damage to equipment.
- Follows Willow Valley’s HACCP plan and all related food safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications ✅
- 2+ years cooking experience in a formal restaurant setting.
- Must have or attain ServSafe certification.
- Associates Degree (A.A.) from two-year college or university OR
- and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hours/Schedule 🕒
- 40 hrs/week
- 11:00am-7:30pm, 2 days off per week
