Aptiv is seeking an experienced Customs, Trade, and Trade Compliance professional to lead its EMEA Corporate Trade organisation, based in Dublin, Ireland or Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The Director, Corporate Trade EMEA is responsible for the regional trade strategy and governance framework, leading a team of trade professionals supporting operations across EMEA. The role ensures compliance with applicable customs and trade regulations, identifies opportunities to optimise cross-border trade activities, and partners with business leaders to support Aptiv's strategic objectives.
Main Responsibilities
· Lead compliance with applicable customs and international trade regulations across the EMEA region.
· Develop and embed trade strategy, governance, and controls into business processes.
· Lead, develop, and continuously strengthen a team of +5 trade professionals across EMEA.
· Direct Aptiv's Trade Internal Assessment Program across EMEA, including site assessments, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Identify, implement, and report on duty optimisation and trade savings opportunities across the region.
· Own the regional trade technology roadmap, including oversight of trade systems and implementation of new capabilities.
· Establish and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
· Manage the regional trade compliance budget and support broader business planning activities.
· Develop and oversee delivery of trade compliance training and awareness programs.
· Oversee compliance with and optimisation of customs special procedures, including Inward Processing, Outward Processing, Customs Warehousing, and Temporary Import programs.
· Provide governance and oversight of origin management processes, Free Trade Agreement qualification, and supplier origin certification activities.
· Lead and support customs and trade compliance audits conducted by internal or external parties.
· Lead customs and trade compliance due diligence activities for acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other strategic transactions.
· Partner closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to support strategic business initiatives and corporate planning activities.
· Represent Aptiv in engagements with customs authorities, industry associations, and external stakeholders as required.
Education / Experience / Key Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, Supply Chain, Law, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
· 10-15+ years of progressive experience in customs, international trade, and trade compliance.
· Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
· Strong knowledge of customs special procedures, duty optimisation strategies, and Free Trade Agreements.
· Experience with HTS and ECCN classification preferred.
· Experience overseeing customs brokers and import/export declaration activities preferred.
· Technology and/or automotive industry experience preferred.
· Experience with SAP GTS preferred.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Fluency in English required; additional language skills are an advantage.

· Deep knowledge of customs and international trade regulations, including customs valuation, special procedures, and trade compliance programmes.

· Analytical and data-driven, with a strong understanding of trade technologies and systems.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
