Collectively, these research programs and initiatives aim to solve near term technical challenges, deliver next generation product advances, and drive long term breakthrough innovation to enable more affordable, reliable, sustainable, and secure energy.Research Engineer in the Mechanical Systems and Design Laboratory, GE Vernova Advanced Research and Development Center will work on the design and development of advanced mechanical components and/or systems for a broad range of current and future GE Vernova products. These are applied in the GE Vernova businesses including Power, Wind, Grid and Digital. GE Vernova Advanced Research and Development Center works on technologies including carbon capture, 100% H2 combustion, Advanced Manufacturing, Next Generation Nuclear, super critical CO2, electric machines, onshore and offshore wind turbines, gas and steam power generation systems, hybrid energy storage.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, analysis, and testing of machinery components and systems including conceptual design, detailed design, testing, validation, and product implementation.
- Work with other support functions and/or external suppliers to meet project deliverables.
- Prepare and participate in project and technical reviews.
- Provide expertise to resolve technical challenges across the organization.
- Participate in technology road mapping and competitive assessment to drive new technology programs.
- Work with internal and external collaborators in developing new project proposals and initiatives.
- Stay connected with industry and university trends, helping GE Vernova stay current with new technologies in the areas of mechanics, scientific machine learning, soft robotics, and materials design.
- Provide technical guidance and direction across the group to grow overall technical capability and product knowledge in technical focus areas.
- Provide technical development across the organization through effective coaching/mentoring.
- Foster a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines OR MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience.
- Strong background in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, mechanical behavior of materials with a minimum of 2 years experience.
- Demonstrate strong technical skills in mathematical modeling and finite element analysis with a minimum of 2 years experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in using 3D solid modeling software (i.e. Unigraphics/Solidworks/ProE/CATIA).
- At least 2 years of experience in Matlab or similar numerical computing tool.

- Knowledge or experience with materials and manufacturing methods for electromechanical system components including alloys and coatings as well as grinding, finishing and hardening methods is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Participate and contribute to decisions and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to take ownership of issues and drive solutions.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
