Job Description Summary

At GE Aerospace, we are advancing aviation technologies for today and tomorrow. Your work will contribute to the production of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial and military aircraft. You will be part of a team that embraces your drive, your curiosity, and your unique ideas and perspectives. Most importantly, you will share in our pride and purpose that affects the lives of millions around the world.

About the Role

The Plant Fulfilment Leader owns how materials flow through the Vandalia plant, from suppliers and between departments, so production schedules are met. You will set the strategy for master planning, material processes, and systems, and you will be accountable for aligning operations to the production plan and KPIs. You will also drive the site's inventory and process-improvement agenda.

Based in Vandalia, OH on 1st shift, you will lead other leaders and cross-functional initiatives. You will work closely with Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Program Management to keep power generation and electrical distribution products moving to military and commercial customers on time. You will make the calls on competing site priorities, with moderate autonomy and within operating policy objectives.

About Our Vandalia Facility

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton, known widely as the birthplace of aviation, where the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 25 acres right off Interstate 75.

At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Job Description

In this role you will:

  • Own master planning, material processes, and systems strategy for the plant, setting the long-term direction for production scheduling and purchasing
  • Hold final accountability for operational alignment to the production plan and KPIs, and drive the site's inventory and process-improvement agenda
  • Act as the plant's strategic authority on materials and fulfillment, setting strategy for the area, including resource allocation and policy, and owning the tradeoffs across competing site priorities
  • Interpret complex and often ambiguous internal and external challenges, such as program volatility, supply disruptions, and shifting market conditions, and set the direction for best practices across products, processes, and services
  • Apply top-level judgment to the plant's most complex, highest-risk problems across operations, manufacturing, technology, and engineering. Assess the credibility of information independently, challenge stakeholders, including senior leaders, and own both the recommendation and its outcome
  • Build original solutions that aren't limited by precedent, and pressure-test decisions with a broad network of internal and external sources, including peers at other sites and businesses
  • Lead other leaders and cross-functional initiatives with real resource investment, risk, and complexity, communicate difficult strategic concepts to senior stakeholders, and coach leaders to broaden their perspective and build their own strategic judgment
  • Lead the sales and operations planning (S&OP) cadence for the site, translating customer demand and program schedules into material, capacity, and delivery plans
  • Manage supplier delivery performance with Sourcing, including expediting, escalation, and recovery plans for critical shortages
  • Set and track fulfillment metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, schedule attainment, and inventory accuracy, and report results and corrective actions to site leadership

The Ideal Candidate

You are a materials and fulfillment leader whom others recognize as the authority on the subject. You keep production moving through volatility, whether that is a supply disruption, a program change, or a shift in the market, and you stay ahead of industry trends instead of just following them. You are fluent in the planning systems and the numbers behind them, and you can turn them into a clear plan that operations, sourcing, and finance can all act on. You are direct, you ask pointed questions of senior stakeholders, and you stand behind your recommendations. You lead other leaders, and you help them sharpen their strategic judgment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in manufacturing and materials planning and execution)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and MRP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) and with setting up and maintaining planning parameters
  • Experience leading S&OP or integrated planning processes
  • Experience managing supplier performance and resolving material shortages
  • Experience with inventory management, including reducing excess and obsolete inventory
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP)
  • Experience managing and developing teams of planners, buyers, or schedulers
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel and data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leaders

Additional Information

  • Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Vandalia, OH facility on 1st shift.
