This role requires advanced knowledge of material and supplier management, material requirements planning (MRP), program management, financial management, and proposal activities. The Material Program Manager (MPM) develops and executes material program strategies aligned with customer and program priorities for cost, schedule, and technical performance. The MPM serves as the liaison between the program and Supply Chain organization and leads cross-functional teams in managing material execution, budgets, risks, and opportunities. Experience with international supplier management and Earned Value Management is a plus.

In this role, you will apply your Supply Chain knowledge and business acumen within a matrixed organization to develop and lead material program strategies for large domestic and international franchise opportunities. Working as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), you will align material plans with program objectives and customer requirements while coordinating across Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Production Control, and Procurement. Additionally, you will participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities as programs transition from low-rate initial production, design and development phases into full-rate production.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communications skills to influence and communicate effectively across multiple areas outside of one’s own job function as well as with parties external to the organization. You will have the opportunity to lead projects, budgeting and financial management, issue and conflict resolution. As a member of a product team in a matrixed environment, you will frequently need to communicate at an executive level within and outside your function, using your ability to influence others outside of your immediate work area to explain and gain alignment on plans, policies, practices, and procedures.

What You Will Do

  • Manage material-related financial performance, including budgets, targets, working capital, proposals, material sales forecasts, and Quarterly Estimates at Completion (EAC).
  • Lead supplier risk and opportunity management, including supplier performance, metrics, risk mitigation, opportunity capture, EXIM considerations, and make/buy strategy development and evaluation.
  • Generate and manage supplier Requests for Proposals/Quotes (RFPs/RFQs) and support supplier selection and execution activities.
  • Apply MRP planning principles, concepts, industry practices, and standards within ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and other enterprise planning systems.

  • Communicate customer flow-through requirements such as FAR 12, FAR 15, DFARS, ITAR, offset, public law, quality, warranty, and other applicable requirements.
  • Lead issue and conflict resolution within and across organizations and with suppliers.
  • Utilize analytical skills to evaluate end-to-end material planning and identify constraints, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • Experience in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in international procurement activities, including the application of EXIM policies, compliance requirements, and/or related regulatory processes
  • Experience supporting Supply Chain or material activities through New Product Introduction (NPI) and/or Transition to Production (T2P)
