Job Description

You've got the knowledge, now get the experience!

Gain hands-on industry experience, lead a real business project, and build the skills, network, and confidence needed to launch your career.

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling interns don't just observe business operations; they become part of them. As a Supply Chain Intern, you won't spend your summer shadowing others or working on administrative tasks. You'll own a project or business initiative that supports real business objectives and delivers measurable impact. After learning the fundamentals of the role through onboarding, training, and mentorship, you'll be trusted to drive your work forward with the support of your manager and team. At the end of the summer, you'll showcase your accomplishments and business impact through a final presentation to company leaders, giving you visibility and exposure beyond your immediate team. Specific projects vary by team and will be discussed during the interview process.

Beyond your project experience, you'll participate in a collaborative internship program designed to help you grow both professionally and personally. Through networking events, professional development opportunities, career coaching, business acumen sessions, site tours, volunteer activities, and intern events, you'll gain valuable insight into the manufacturing industry while building relationships across the organization.

This is a paid summer internship located in Greenville, NC.  If you're looking for an internship where your ideas matter, your work makes a difference, and your growth is a priority, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Gain:

From day one, you'll be trusted with work that matters.

  • Ownership of a real business project
  • Mentorship from industry professionals
  • Professional development and career coaching
  • Networking with company leaders
  • Exposure to manufacturing and supply chain operations
  • Opportunity to present your work to leadership

Interns leave the program with meaningful accomplishments they can discuss in future interviews, while some launch their careers with Hyster-Yale after graduation.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead a meaningful project or series of projects that support business objectives and drive measurable results.
  • Learn the fundamentals of your assigned role through hands-on training, mentorship, and collaboration with experienced supply chain professionals.
  • Analyze processes, data, and operational challenges to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute innovative solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with team members and stakeholders to support project goals and business initiatives.
  • Present recommendations, findings, and project outcomes to leaders and peers throughout the internship experience.
  • Gain exposure to supply chain functions such as planning, logistics, inventory management, procurement, operations, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Participate In:

In addition to gaining hands-on experience within your assigned department, interns will participate in a structured development program designed to enhance professional growth, industry knowledge, and career readiness.

  • Intern Community Events: Build connections with fellow interns through social activities and networking opportunities throughout the summer.
  • Professional Development: Access learning opportunities focused on communication, leadership, business professionalism, and career success.

  • Business Acumen Sessions: Learn how different areas of the organization work together while gaining insight into the materials handling industry.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with leaders and professionals from across the company to expand your network and learn about various career paths.
  • Volunteer Activities: Participate in community engagement opportunities and give back alongside fellow interns and employees.
  • Site Tours: Visit facilities and operations to better understand Hyster-Yale's products, customers, and business operations.
  • Final Experience Presentation: Present your project, accomplishments, and business impact to leaders and peers from across the organization.
  • Innovation Participation (Optional): Share ideas and solutions that could help improve processes, products, or the employee experience through innovation-focused discussions with business leaders.

What You Will Need:
