Shipping Clerk

Position Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurate shipping paperwork and ERP transactions to ensure orders are properly documented and processed. This role works closely with the DC Supervisor, warehouse team, and other departments to support efficient shipping operations while maintaining SEMCO’s quality, safety, and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Use multiple ERP system to create Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, shipping labels, and other required documents.
• Use of Microsoft office, outlook, accel, etc.
• Complete shipping transactions accurately and in a timely manner to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Verify part numbers, quantities, customer information, and shipment details before processing orders.
• Organize and maintain shipping paperwork and records.
• Work with outside truck drivers, shipping team, UPS, FedEx, etc.
• Communicate shipping discrepancies, delays, or other issues to the DC Supervisor and appropriate departments.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure shipments are properly documented and ready for pickup.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with SEMCO standards.
• Follow established procedures and assist with process improvements when opportunities arise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the DC Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Forklift certification required.
• Warehouse, shipping, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• IQMS experience preferred; ability to learn shipping transactions and procedures required.
• Basic computer, data-entry, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow directions, manage changing priorities, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Reliable attendance and commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
