About us

Southern Cross Health Insurance is shaping a healthier Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is simple: empowering our members to live well for longer. We're here to give peace of mind through timely access to quality care, inspire healthier living, and lead positive change across the health system. As a New Zealand-owned, member-based organisation, we're building a future where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do -- delivering exceptional value for our members and creating an environment where our people thrive.

Now is an exciting time to join us. You'll be part of a high-performing, values-driven team where people are at the heart of everything we do -- and in return for your talent, you'll have the opportunity to grow, make an impact, and be proud of the difference your work makes.

About the role

Working collaboratively with Group contacts, Account Managers, Advisers, and internal teams, you’ll help resolve complex billing arrangements and queries while maintaining a strong focus on debt management and customer outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Accurately allocating member and group payments and reconciling accounts
  • Investigating and resolving payment discrepancies and billing issues
  • Supporting employer groups and stakeholders with complex financial queries
  • Proactively following up on overdue premiums and supporting debt recovery
  • Acting as a key escalation point for complex billing and payment queries
  • Contributing to a smooth, automated, and seamless payment experience
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fair customer outcomes

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in administration and/or customer service, including outbound calling
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes
  • Sound financial acumen, with experience in reconciliation and account management
  • Confidence managing debt collection and sensitive financial conversations
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel)
  • The ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Why join us?

You’ll be part of a team that values accuracy, accountability, and customer focus, where your contribution directly impacts our members’ experience and financial wellbeing. This is a great opportunity to grow your expertise in financial operations, stakeholder engagement, and complex problem-solving.

This is a 6-month contract role covering parental leave.

We are proud to have taken the Pride Pledge, reflecting our commitment to inclusion and belonging. We also facilitate an active, employee‑led Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forum, which includes our Rainbow Network, Māori Network, Pasifika Collective, and Neurodiversity and Whānau Support networks.

If you share our commitment and passion, we'd love to hear from you.
