Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Jira Developer to design, develop and optimise Jira-based solutions that support business processes across the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to customise Jira and associated Atlassian products, build integrations, automate workflows and enhance the overall user experience.
This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering scalable and efficient solutions that drive business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain custom Jira solutions, workflows, screens, fields and permissions.
- Configure and administer Jira Software, Jira Service Management and other Atlassian tools as required.
- Develop and maintain integrations between Jira and third-party applications using REST APIs and other integration technologies.
- Create automation rules and scripts to improve operational efficiency and user productivity.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve Jira platform issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Develop custom plugins, extensions or applications where standard Jira functionality does not meet business needs.
- Support platform upgrades, migrations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain technical documentation, system configurations and development standards.
- Ensure solutions align with security, compliance and governance requirements.
- Provide guidance and best practices to users and project teams on Jira capabilities and functionality.
- Participate in code reviews, testing and quality assurance activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience developing and administering Jira within enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of Jira Software, Jira Service Management and Atlassian ecosystem tools.
- Experience working with Jira APIs, automation frameworks and scripting tools.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Groovy, JavaScript or Python.
- Experience with REST APIs, web services and systems integration.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Atlassian certifications (e.g. ACP certifications).
- Experience developing Jira plugins using Atlassian SDK.
- Experience with Confluence administration and integration.
- Familiarity with cloud and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and integration platforms.
- Experience supporting large-scale global user communities.
