About the Role
The Program Director, Enterprise Program Management Office is responsible for driving execution rigor, transparency, and alignment for H&R Block's critical strategic programs and enterprise priorities.
Reporting to the VP, EPMO, this role partners with business owners, executive sponsors, and cross-functional leaders to translate strategic priorities into integrated execution plans, drive disciplined program delivery, and ensure leadership has clear visibility into progress, risks, dependencies, and business outcomes.
The Program Director serves as a strategic execution partner helping the organization reduce execution friction, improve coordination, accelerate decision-making, and deliver measurable business results. This role joins the EPMO during a pivotal stage of growth and partners closely with the VP, EPMO to help establish and mature the enterprise program management function, shaping governance, operating rhythms, portfolio visibility, execution standards, and reporting practices that enable successful delivery of H&R Block's strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Enterprise Execution Visibility and Alignment
- Drive coordination to develop and maintain visibility into Enterprise Operating Plan initiatives, including progress, risks, dependencies, delivery confidence, and expected business outcomes.
- Partner with business owners to align execution activities to targeted business outcomes and success measures.
- Identify cross-functional dependencies, execution gaps, and risks, and help drive resolution of issues impacting enterprise priorities.
Drive Strategic Program Execution
- Lead execution of complex, cross-functional strategic programs from planning through delivery.
- Translate business priorities into integrated plans, milestones, dependencies, operating commitments, and measurable outcomes.
- Coordinate execution across workstreams and functional teams to ensure alignment and delivery.
- Identify and proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and execution blockers.
- Track progress against key milestones, KPIs, and value realization objectives.
- Promote outcome-based execution and continuous improvement across programs.
Establish Governance and Delivery Discipline
- Drive program governance, reporting, and operating cadences that provide transparency, accountability, and timely decision-making.
- Provide transparent visibility into program health, milestones, risks, dependencies, and delivery confidence.
- Facilitate program reviews, executive steering committees, and decision-making forums.
- Promote consistency in execution practices, reporting, and accountability across programs.
- Help build and evolve EPMO capabilities, processes, governance frameworks, operating cadences, and tools that support execution excellence across the enterprise.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of program, transformation, business operations, or enterprise execution experience, including leadership of large cross-functional initiatives
- Proven track record leading large, complex cross-functional initiatives and measurable business outcomes
- Experience influencing senior leaders and driving alignment without direct authority
- Strong business acumen, analytical problem-solving, and executive communication skills
- Demonstrated success translating strategy into execution and measurable outcomes
- Proficiency with program management, reporting, and collaboration tools
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree or program management certification preferred
