At Intelligentsia working as a Private Coffeebar Barista is typically in a setting that is within another business or there is an extended need for this service beyond just events.

Coffeebar is located at: 200 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Prepare and serve beverages and food that adhere to the company’s freshness and quality standards ensuring that they consistently reflect the company’s recipe and presentation standards

  • Ensure guests are warmly received and welcomed; engage the guests in a sincere and friendly manner, including greeting guests with a smile, thanking them for their patronage, and preparing drinks in an expedient manner while answering questions or guiding them if needed.

  • Adhere to all company standards and policies both behind the bar and at the front of house, including those for cash handling and safety

  • Maintain a clean and organized work space so fellow team members can locate resources and products quickly. 

  • Baristas strive to uphold and demonstrate Intelligentsia values consistently. 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure adherence to the dress code prescribed from the company that is employing Intelligentsia, as well as all health and safety requirements.  

  • Demonstrate initiative with routine tasks that are or are not assigned to you.

  • Ensure that the company’s brand is properly reflected by keeping a well maintained, clean, well-organized and stocked coffeebar

  • Uphold the company’s standards regarding merchandising, inventory and rotation of store products

  • Actively participate in coffee and tea tastings to further product knowledge and help identify any issues or deficiencies

  • Assist in the training and development of new staff and educate guests and staff on all coffee and teas carried

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for coffee and tea

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including giving and receiving feedback

  • Tuesday + Wednesday Availability - Schedule will generally be a 7-8 hour shift between 6:30AM-3:00PM.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience in coffee is strongly preferred

  • Engaging interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Adaptability - Logical and methodological approach to problem solving

  • Flexibility - Ability to multi-task in a highly demanding, and sometimes stressful environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Hand-eye coordination, especially when handling hot beverages or performing detailed tasks like measuring or pouring.

  • Ability to move around the workspace to keep up with orders and maintain a productive environment 

  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment and with difficult guests

COMPENSATION

  • $25.20 per hour (Not Tip Eligible)
