- Identify changes in customs and trade requirements and translate complex regulations, rulings, and regulatory developments into clear, practical guidance for business, compliance, product, and engineering teams.
- Advise on the development of technology and operational solutions that help eBay customers participate in cross-border trade.
- Partner across functions including Tax, Sanctions Compliance, Risk, Finance/Treasury, Accounting, Marketing, Privacy, Information Security, Internal Audit, and Government Relations.
- Anticipate relevant regulatory developments, assess potential business impact, and provide proactive, pragmatic advice to leadership.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements supporting Global Shipping programs, including EU export and intra-EU trade initiatives.
- Manage multiple complex and high-priority matters effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
What You Will Bring
- Qualification and admission to practice law in Germany or the Netherlands.
- 6+ years of relevant legal or regulatory experience advising logistics organizations, carriers, manufacturers, retailers, technology or ecommerce companies, or government agencies on customs and trade matters.
- Strong experience advising on EU and international customs and trade regulations, including customs rulings.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic, practical, and commercially minded regulatory advice to business and compliance teams.
- Strong understanding of the global customs ecosystem and its application to cross-border ecommerce.
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex problems and achieve business objectives.
- Ability to lead multiple high-priority matters and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
- Professional fluency in English. Preferred fluency in French and German
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment of evolving regulations, business models, and priorities.
Preferred Experience
Experience as a customs broker, working with a customs brokerage, or working directly with or for EU customs institutions or national customs administrations is highly valued.
