About Our Family
We’re a busy, two working parent family with two young children who attend school full time, and our days move quickly. Both parents have demanding work schedules, and one parent occasionally travels. Our afternoons and evenings are the heart of our family’s day, and we’re looking for someone who can step into that time with warmth, confidence, and a natural sense of what needs to happen next. We want our home to feel like a place where everyone can exhale at the end of a full day: the children come home, settle into their routines, dinner comes together, and the evening unfolds without everything feeling like one more thing to manage.
We already have a wonderful housekeeper who handles deep cleaning and laundry twice a week, so this role is about everything that makes the household function beautifully in between. You’ll help the children transition home from school, get dinner moving, keep everyday spaces organized, stay ahead of household supplies and errands, and prepare for what tomorrow will bring. We also have a gentle, 17 pound Cavapoo who is an easy and much loved part of the family.
We value clear communication, follow through, and people who take ownership of what they do. We’re looking for someone who will become a trusted part of our household, learn how our family works, and develop the confidence to simply see what needs to happen and make it happen. The right person will be a magic maker behind the scenes, creating the organization, preparation, and ease that allow the family to come home, reconnect, and enjoy their time together. It’s about all of those little things being handled before they become one more thing on someone’s plate, so that home can feel like home again.
Who You Are / What We’re Looking For
You bring experience supporting a busy household, family, or similarly fast moving environment where organization, follow through, and initiative are essential. You naturally think a few steps ahead and have a strong sense of what needs to happen next. You notice when something is running low, recognize what can be handled before it becomes urgent, and look for ways to make everyday routines work better. You are comfortable taking something from “this needs to be done” to “it’s handled” without needing someone to walk you through every step. You enjoy creating systems that bring order to a busy household and have an eye for both the bigger picture and the small details that make a home feel cared for.
You are warm and comfortable with young children and enjoy being part of their day, while understanding that your role extends beyond childcare. You can help children transition home from school, guide them through their routines, and encourage age appropriate independence while continuing to keep the household moving. You also have a strong sense of emotional intelligence and may have been told that you are particularly good at reading a room. You know when to step in, when to ask a question, when something is worth flagging, and when it is better to give someone a little space. You communicate clearly and thoughtfully, keeping the family informed without overwhelming them. Sometimes that means a quick text during the day; other times, it means knowing that everyone simply needs to walk through the door and settle in. You understand professional boundaries and bring a calm, capable presence to a home where there is always something happening.
You’re looking for a long term position where you can become a trusted part of a family’s support system and have a meaningful impact on how their home functions. You enjoy being the person behind the scenes who notices what others may not, prepares for what is coming, and quietly keeps things moving. You get satisfaction from making a busy day feel more manageable, whether that means having tomorrow’s school items ready, catching a household issue before it becomes a bigger one, or finding a better way to organize something that has always felt cumbersome. You’re someone who sees what needs to be done, figures out how to make it happen, and leaves things better than you found them.
