PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Executive Associate Vice President of Development, the Senior Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations provides strategic leadership for the University's foundation and corporate fundraising program. This role is responsible for setting portfolio strategy, cultivating and closing principal- and major-level gifts and partnerships, and supervising a Foundation and Corporate Relations (FCR) Officer in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts and partnerships that advance the imperatives outlined in the University's strategic plan.

 

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Development

Percent Effort: 40%

  • Direct research efforts to identify funding opportunities that align with the strategic direction of the University

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with the University's most significant foundation and corporate partners, including principal-level prospects

  • Lead the development of complex grant applications and funding proposals in support of scholarships, programs, outreach, and other work of the University's students, faculty, and staff

  • Manage the University's fundraising request form and serve as the central point of coordination for internal campus requests to solicit funds from external foundations and corporations

  • Advise campus partners on appropriate funders, timing, and proposal strategy prior to approving external solicitation requests

  • Oversee stewardship strategy, ensuring accurate, timely, and compelling impact reporting on the use of funds

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Colleges and Institutional Advancement on foundation and corporate matters

  • Represent the University's foundation and corporate relations function within professional networks, staying ahead of industry best practices and funding trends

Functional Area 2: Strategic Leadership and Supervision

Percent Effort: 30%

  • Set the vision, strategy, and annual goals for the University's foundation and corporate relations program in alignment with institutional and divisional priorities

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the FCR Officer, providing guidance on prospect strategy, proposal development, and portfolio management

  • Establish and monitor performance metrics and fundraising targets for the FCR program

  • Manage the FCR program's operating budget and resource allocation

Functional Area 3: Engagement

Percent Effort: 20%

  • Represent Institutional Advancement at high-visibility University and community events

  • Identify and cultivate students, alumni, and donors who can help communicate the University's story and impact to corporate and foundation audiences

  • Build and maintain a presence in key community and industry organizations, representing the University in alignment with institutional priorities

Functional Area 4: Administrative

Percent Effort: 10%

  • Maintain oversight of the FCR program's portfolio of corporate and foundation donors and partners, ensuring consistent, accurate documentation of engagement

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of donor and prospect contacts

  • Report quarterly on fundraising activity, pipeline health, and other metrics

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Five (5) years of related experience, including demonstrated success securing major grants from foundations and corporations

  • Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum qualification requirements:

    • Master’s degree and three (3) years of related experience, including demonstrated success securing major grants from foundations and corporations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, prospective donors, and campus partners at all levels

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced expertise in formal proposal and grant writing

  • Ability to relate well to coworkers, peers, and leadership across Institutional Advancement and the University as a whole

  • Positive, collaborative, and service-oriented attitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in a related field

  • Seven to ten (7-10) years of progressive experience in foundation and corporate fundraising

  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff

  • Demonstrated track record securing six- and seven-figure gifts from foundations and corporations

  • Experience at a university or comparable complex nonprofit

  • Raiser's Edge experience

  • CFRE or other relevant fundraising credential

  • Passionate about higher education

SALARY: $75,000 - $80,000/annually, approximately

  • $6,250 - $6,666.67/monthly

    NOTE:

    • Employment may be impacted by the Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025 and the moratorium issued by Texas Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026.

    • This position is primarily office-based with standard business hours. Some evening and weekend availability may be required to support donor events and campaign activities. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift materials up to 25 pounds for event setup.
