Introduction to the job
At ASML, Applications Engineering enables customer success through the deployment and optimization of advanced lithography and metrology solutions. As a Senior Field Application Engineer, you will support customer technology ramps, process optimization, high-volume manufacturing (HVM), and fab startup activities while serving as a trusted technical advisor and problem solver.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead customer-facing projects supporting technology node transitions, fab startup, production ramp, and process optimization.
- Drive technical issue resolution using data analysis, root cause investigation, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams and ASML global experts to improve process control, overlay performance, yield, and productivity.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), qualification, manufacturing readiness, and technology transfer activities.
- Act as the primary interface between customers and ASML application, product, and development organizations.
- Lead technical reviews, training sessions, and customer engagements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building local application engineering capabilities.
- Develop and share best practices, knowledge, and technical expertise
- Travel of approximately <15% JP domestic and overseas
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field (Master's or PhD preferred).
- 4+ years of experience in Applications Engineering, Process Engineering, Yield Engineering, Lithography, Metrology, or Semiconductor Manufacturing.
- Customer-facing experience supporting technical projects and escalations.
- Experience with technology ramps, yield improvement, process control, or fab startup environments preferred.
- Strong analytical capabilities using Python, MATLAB, JMP, SQL, or similar tools.

- Strong problem-solving, statistical analysis, and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership capabilities.

Other Information
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- May involve long-term customer-site assignments and international collaboration.
- Ability to work in semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom environments.
