Full Job Description: Manager of Advanced Learning and Gifted Services
Compensation: Educational Grade 05 | EG-05
Tulsa Public Schools’ existing salary schedules provide career increment adjustments based on education/experience and/or years of creditable service. Position Summary: The Manager of Advanced Learning and Gifted Services oversees the district's K-12 Advanced Learning and Gifted and Talented program, including identification, service delivery, staff development, family communication, and compliance with state and district policies. The Manager supervises program staff, manages the department's budget and resources, and partners with school leaders and district teams to expand advanced learning opportunities through effective screening, instructional support, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Functions:
● Manage the district's K-12 Advanced Learning and Gifted and Talented program
● Oversee districtwide Gifted and Talented screening, identification, and equity-centered talent development
● Manage departmental budget, vendor contracts, and resource allocations for Advanced Learning services
● Oversee state-required Gifted and Talented reporting, audits, and district plan updates
● Directly supervise the Gifted and Talented Program Specialist and Gifted and Talented Instructional Mentor
● Chair and facilitate the District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
● Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field required
● Master's degree in Gifted Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred
Experience:
● Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience supporting gifted/advanced learners
● Demonstrated knowledge of Oklahoma gifted education requirements, best practices for identification and programming, and equity-centered talent development
Licenses and Certifications:
● Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Strong knowledge of gifted education and advanced learning best practices, including identification, service models, and social-emotional/affective considerations
● Ability to lead through influence: coaching school leaders, facilitating adult learning, and driving implementation across multiple sites
● Strong data literacy: ability to analyze participation/achievement patterns, audit fidelity, and guide improvement actions
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common education data tools
