Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

The Area Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and supervision of assigned manufacturing departments to support the organization's operational, quality, delivery, safety, and financial objectives. This position provides direction, coaching, training, and leadership to Production Team Members while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Position Scope:

• Responsible for leading a manufacturing department consisting of approximately 10-25 Team Members.
• Responsible for the day-to-day execution of operational objectives within an assigned functional area.
• Supports short- and medium-term production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation activities across all shifts within the assigned operation.
• Leads improvement projects of moderate scope and complexity focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.
• Uses structured problem-solving methodologies and data-driven decision making to identify opportunities and resolve operational issues.
• Works cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Customer Support to achieve business objectives.
• Maintains awareness of customer requirements and supports customer-related activities as needed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct, administer, and control day-to-day operations and activities of assigned departments.
• Provide leadership, support, coaching, and guidance to Production Team Members.
• Own departmental performance metrics and drive actions to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, efficiency, and cost objectives.
• Monitor, analyze, and communicate KPI trends and implement actions to improve results.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
• Support improvements in OEE, labor efficiency, first-pass yield, and on-time delivery.
• Diagnose manufacturing, quality, and process issues; coordinate root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to resolve constraints.
• Ensure compliance with TT Electronics policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality system requirements.
• Develop talent through coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning.
• Maintain production records and documentation and perform other assigned duties.

 

Typical Allocation of Responsibilities:

• People Leadership, Administration, Safety, and Team Development: 50%
• Quality Management, Process Ownership, and Continuous Improvement: 20%
• Production Planning, Scheduling, and Supply Chain Coordination: 25%
• Customer Support and External Communication: 5%

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Qualifications:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Required: Experience leading teams, projects, or operational activities.
• Required: Experience using production metrics and performance data to drive results.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Preferred: Prior supervisory or leadership experience in electronics manufacturing.
• Preferred: Experience in aerospace, regulated, or high-reliability manufacturing.
• Preferred: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, or Green Belt certification.
• Preferred: Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong leadership, coaching, and talent development skills.
• Ability to interpret and utilize operational performance metrics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn ERP/MES systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and operational excellence methodologies.

Location: 100 % onsite in Greater Cleveland, Ohio
