Undergraduate Intern – Programs

The Grand Prairie Public Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and highly organized Undergraduate Intern of Programs to join our lively Programming team. This position is perfect for a college student who enjoys working with people, being creative, serving their community, and helping bring exciting programs and events to life.

Reporting directly to the Administrator of Programs & Promotions, the intern will provide hands-on support for library programs, special events, and community outreach throughout the Grand Prairie Public Library System. This is an active, behind-the-scenes and in-the-action role where every day can look a little different!

What You'll Do

• Assist with preparing and facilitating library programs for children, teens, adults, and families.
• Prepare crafts, activities, materials, and supplies for upcoming programs.
• Gather, organize, transport, and return program supplies as needed.
• Help decorate library spaces for special events, holidays, and large-scale programs.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of programs and events.
• Provide hands-on support during programs, including helping participants and assisting with activity stations.
• Support community outreach events and programs at locations throughout Grand Prairie.
• Assist with special events and larger library initiatives.
• Help keep programming supplies, materials, and workspaces organized.
• Anticipate the needs of programming staff and take initiative to jump in where help is needed.
• Adapt quickly to changing plans and assist with last-minute program needs.

What We're Looking For

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
• Previous experience working with children, families, teens, or the public is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A hands-on, can-do attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed.
• Ability to anticipate needs, work independently, and adapt quickly.
• Comfortable working in high-energy environments with diverse audiences.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in serving the community.

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
