Senior WordPress Platform Engineer- Onsite – Islamabad

Job Role Overvie:
You will be responsible for the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of our WordPress and WooCommerce platform. Working closely with our Marketing, Product and Software Engineering teams, you will improve performance, develop new features, enhance customer experience, build integrations and help introduce AI-powered capabilities. Where appropriate, you will also contribute to our wider web platform, including Angular applications and shared frontend components.
Key Responsibilities:
WordPress Platform Engineering
Own the technical architecture of our WordPress platform.
Develop custom WordPress and WooCommerce functionality.
Build and maintain custom plugins and integrations.
Develop clean, secure and maintainable PHP 8.x code.
Optimise MySQL databases and SQL queries.
Reduce technical debt and improve platform maintainability.
Performance & Customer Experience
Improve Core Web Vitals and website performance.
Optimise WooCommerce checkout and customer journeys.
Improve website search and user experience.
Increase website conversion rates.
Platform Development
Develop integrations with HubSpot, Stripe and other business systems.
Build AI-powered website features and automation.
Improve platform monitoring, reliability and scalability.
Work with other teams to deliver new platform capabilities.
Contribute to Angular applications where appropriate.
Essential Skills
5+ years commercial WordPress development.
Tech Stack
WordPress WooCommerce PHP 8 MySQL JavaScript HTML/CSS REST APIs Git Angular (desirable) HubSpot Stripe Cloudflare WPEngine AI APIs
Strong WooCommerce experience.
Expert PHP 8+ and MySQL.
WordPress internals and custom plugin development.
REST API development and integrations.
JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3.
SQL optimisation and performance tuning.
Git, Composer and WP-CLI.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
Angular and TypeScript.
Cloudflare and WPEngine.
HubSpot and Stripe APIs.
Elasticsearch or similar search technologies.
Experience integrating AI APIs (e.g. OpenAI).
