We are currently seeking a full-time, exempt Registered Professional Land Surveyor. The Registered Professional Land Surveyor is responsible for managing the daily surveying activities of the Grapevine office under the direction of BHB’s Vice President of Land Surveying. This position will supervise field and office personnel, manage projects, prepare scopes of work and fee proposals, maintain project schedules and budgets, coordinate with clients, and provide quality assurance and quality control for surveying deliverables. The RPLS will serve as the primary surveying representative within the Grapevine office while working closely with the Fort Worth survey team to ensure compliance with BHB’s department-wide standards, procedures, business objectives, and quality expectations.

This position will supervise field and office personnel, manage projects, prepare scopes of work and fee proposals, maintain project schedules and budgets, coordinate with clients, and provide quality assurance and quality control for surveying deliverables. The RPLS will serve as the primary surveying representative within the Grapevine office while working closely with the Fort Worth survey team to ensure compliance with BHB’s department-wide standards, procedures, business objectives, and quality expectations.
Expected Duties
In this role you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list:- Manage the day-to-day surveying operations of the Grapevine office.
- Supervise, schedule, mentor, and support field and office surveying personnel.
- Coordinate staffing and workload assignments based on project priorities, schedules, and available resources.
- Prepare scopes of work, fee proposals, project budgets, schedules, and additional service requests.
- Manage multiple surveying projects from initial proposal through final delivery.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, schedules, billing needs, and overall financial performance.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and potential issues.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, engineers, architects, attorneys, title companies, governmental agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Assist the Vice President of Land Surveying with client development, staffing needs, operational planning, and the continued growth of the Grapevine office.
- Perform and oversee boundary analysis and the resolution of boundary-related matters using sound professional judgment.
- Review surveying documents for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Provide quality assurance and quality control for boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision plats, easements, legal descriptions, construction surveys, and other surveying deliverables.
- Sign and seal surveying documents for which the RPLS has exercised responsible charge.
- Ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, on schedule, and within the established budget.
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Engineering and Land Surveying Practice Acts and Rules, applicable laws and regulations, current ALTA/NSPS standards, BHB procedures, and generally accepted professional surveying practices.
- Promote consistent use of BHB surveying standards, templates, workflows, and quality-control procedures.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and training to surveying staff.
- Identify project risks or operational concerns and communicate them promptly to the Vice President of Land Surveying.
- Coordinate with surveying personnel in other BHB offices when additional resources or technical support are needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Land Surveying.
We Require
- Must possess a current Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor license in good standing.
- Minimum of three years of project-management and personnel-management experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, laws, standards, and methods used in professional land surveying.
- Strong experience performing and reviewing boundary surveys and boundary analyses.
- Experience preparing and reviewing ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision plats, easements, legal descriptions, commercial land-development surveys, civil-design surveys, and construction staking projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, personnel assignments, and client expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare scopes of work, project fees, budgets, and schedules.
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while following department-wide direction, procedures, and quality standards.
- Working knowledge of modern surveying field procedures, robotic total stations, GNSS equipment, data collection, and office-processing workflows.
- Experience with Trimble surveying equipment and workflows is preferred.
- Proficiency in, or the ability to become proficient in, Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur. Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur. Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.Position Type and Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position, with an expectation of working 40 hours per week. BHB offers flexible scheduling options, including five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days with a half day on Friday morning. While the start and end times of the workday can be adjusted, employees are expected to establish and maintain a consistent schedule which must encompass the core business hours of 9am – 4pm. Although overtime is not the norm, it is requested at times to meet our clients’ needs.Benefits
