Boston Scientific is seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Scientist, Digital Product Owner to lead the strategy, development and delivery of enterprise-scale data products that enable data-driven decision-making across Global Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Commercial functions.
This role combines the technical depth of a data scientist with the strategic leadership of a product owner. As the voice of the business for a portfolio of analytics and AI-enabled products, you will define product vision, roadmaps and priorities while partnering with data engineering, architecture, quality and business teams to deliver scalable solutions on modern cloud platforms.
You will transform complex business challenges into trusted data products, advanced analytics capabilities and AI-driven insights that improve operational performance, quality outcomes, compliance and customer experiences. You will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, helping ensure investments in data and AI create measurable business value.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include:
- Own the vision, strategy, roadmap and backlog for enterprise data products and analytics platforms.
- Partner with business leaders to identify high-value opportunities and translate them into actionable product requirements.
- Define and prioritize user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery milestones using Agile methodologies.
- Lead product planning activities and communicate roadmap progress, risks, dependencies and outcomes to senior leadership.
- Establish product KPIs and success metrics focused on adoption, business value, data quality and operational impact.
- Establish and govern trusted enterprise data products by defining ownership, metadata standards, data contracts and governance controls while ensuring compliance with quality, privacy, security, regulatory, data integrity, cybersecurity and responsible AI requirements.
- Partner with data engineering teams to design scalable, governed data products by defining end-to-end data architecture requirements and leveraging modern platforms to enable trusted self-service analytics, AI-driven insights and continuous improvements in performance, reliability, scalability and cost efficiency.
- Serve as a trusted adviser and influential leader across a global, matrixed organization by aligning business, IT and functional stakeholders, driving adoption of data products through governance and engagement, and developing analytical and product management capabilities across teams.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, information systems, engineering, statistics, mathematics or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in data science, analytics, data products, digital transformation or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience serving as a product owner, product manager or digital product lead.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving business stakeholders, data engineering teams and technical delivery organizations.
- Strong experience working within Agile delivery frameworks and product management practices.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, facilitation and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience operating in highly regulated environments such as medical devices, health care, life sciences or manufacturing.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, analytics, business, engineering or a related discipline.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience leading enterprise data domains or data product portfolios.
- Experience implementing AI and generative AI solutions in regulated environments.
- Experience supporting quality, manufacturing, regulatory, commercial or supply chain analytics initiatives.
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale data modernization programs.
