An innovative and fast-growing deep-tech company at the intersection of robotics, industrial automation, and advanced manufacturing is looking for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join its engineering team.
This business is developing next-generation industrial technology that is redefining how large-scale metal components are designed and manufactured. Their platform combines robotics, software, and material science to deliver cutting-edge solutions across industries including construction, automotive, and energy.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Linux Systems Engineer, you will take ownership of the Linux foundation powering advanced industrial systems in the field. You will work across custom Linux image creation, deployment pipelines, print/control software, and cloud-connected infrastructure running on Linux and Docker-based platforms.
You will play a key role in shaping platform security, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence, while collaborating closely with software, firmware, robotics, and product engineering teams.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role with real technical ownership and the opportunity to work on highly innovative hardware/software systems in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the build, customisation, deployment, and update pipeline for Linux-based systems deployed globally
- Design and maintain Linux-based control platforms for advanced industrial applications
- Improve platform security through hardening, patching, secure update delivery, access control, and threat mitigation
- Support and help lead the development of a Linux + Docker SaaS platform, including deployment, monitoring, and containerised services
- Manage software releases and ensure reliable deployments into production environments
- Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers within the team
- Optimise systems for reliability, scalability, performance, and security
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and operational tooling across the software stack
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical discipline
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong systems focus
- Strong Python development skills
- Deep Linux systems knowledge beyond standard administration
- Experience building and maintaining custom Linux images using tools such as Yocto, Buildroot, Debootstrap, or similar
- Strong understanding of Linux security principles including hardening, encryption, access control, and secure update mechanisms
- Solid Docker/containerisation experience
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
- Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment
