    Primary Responsibilities

The Inventory Control (“IC”) Analyst is the analytical and operational engine of the IC team. A role built for someone who can move fluidly between data, process, and people. Owning a dedicated temp zone within the DC, this role is responsible for driving inventory accuracy through root cause analysis, guiding the daily workflow of cycle counting staff, and delivering data-backed solutions to complex operational problems. The IC Analyst serves as a cross-functional partner to DC department leadership, translating inventory findings into actionable insight. This role requires someone who leads with curiosity, communicates with precision, and holds themselves accountable to continuous improvement across the operation.

    Essential Functions

    Inventory Analysis & RCA

    • Own root cause analysis on large-value inventory adjustments and systemic cycle count variances, producing thorough documentation that supports resolution, quantifies impact, and prevents recurrence.
    • Manage and execute Recall, DAP, UDR, VFR, Salvage, and Donation protocols with full process fluency, ensuring adjustments are accurate and compliant.
    • Translate quantitative findings into concise, evidence-based narratives for DC leadership.

    Zone Ownership and Operational Oversight

    • Maintain full ownership of the assigned temp zone within the DC, including daily workflow guidance, adjustment oversight, and issue resolution.
    • Conduct cycle counter audits to assess count integrity and adherence, partnering with the DC IC Manager on coaching opportunities.
    • Prioritize daily IC tasks based on business needs, balancing urgent operational demands against longer-horizon deliverables.

    Cross-Functional Partnership

    • Establish a bi-weekly meeting cadence with the Site Director, focused on temp zone issues and collaborative problem solving.
    • Maintain daily connects with Cycle Counter and Sr. Cycle Counter staff to align on priorities and surface emerging issues.
    • Act as IC representative in cross-functional settings, identifying operational issues and communicating data-driven solutions to DC leadership.
    • Serve as proxy for the DC IC Manager in meetings with Site and/or Area Directors.

    Special Projects and Process Improvement

    • Own at least one active cross-functional IC project with DC partnership, driving from problem definition through implementation.
    • Execute ad hoc project assignments from the IC Manager with analytical rigor and structured thinking.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IC processes, documentation, and reporting standards.

    Team Development

    • Serve as the assigned mentor for the Sr. Cycle Counter, meeting weekly to address development needs and support their progression.
    • Model the standard of data literacy, operational ownership, and cross-functional accountability expected at the IC Analyst level, acting as a leadership resource when the DC IC Manager is unavailable.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, related field, or demonstrated work experience.
    • 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related analytical role within a distribution center environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and communicate findings in a structured, data-driven format to operations or senior leadership.
    • Strong working knowledge of inventory adjustment processes including Recall, DAP, UDR, VFR, Salvage, and Donations.
    • Proficiency with WMS platforms; NTS experience strongly preferred.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience owning a dedicated inventory or workflow area within a high-volume DC.
    • Familiarity with reporting / data querying (Excel, Power BI, SQL, etc.) and MS Office.
    • Ability to build and interpret inventory trend analysis.
    • Prior experience facilitating cross-functional projects with DC or operations leadership involvement.
    • Comfortable in leadership capacity during absence of direct management, and ability to make sound decisions with credibility.
