## About The Role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Crestmead, supporting our Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) business within John Deere’s global organisation. In this role, you will support accurate and timely accounting activities across intercompany accounting, reconciliations, reporting, month-end close and compliance processes. This is a great opportunity for an early-career finance professional who enjoys detail-focused work, is eager to learn, and wants to grow their career while contributing to better processes, stronger controls and practical business outcomes for the ANZ business.
## What You Will Do
- Perform intercompany accounting activities, including reconciliations, settlements and netting processes in line with established procedures.
- Prepare and post monthly journals and support general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Produce standard financial reports by collecting, consolidating and reviewing data from multiple systems and sources.
- Support month-end close activities, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
- Assist with system-generated transactions and interfaces, escalating issues where required.
- Work with Finance Shared Services to support issue resolution and ensure outputs meet business requirements.
- Respond to internal and external accounting queries, escalating complex matters as needed.
- Support internal control, compliance and audit preparation activities, including SOX requirements and documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through process standardisation and basic automation opportunities.
## About You
With strong attention to detail, accounting fundamentals and a continuous improvement mindset, you are an energetic self-starter who takes ownership of your work, enjoys solving problems and works well as part of a team.
You will bring (Required skills/experiences)
- Accounting degree, or working towards CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
- 1–3 years’ experience in an accounting, finance or similar early-career role.
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including general ledger maintenance, journals and reconciliations.
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines, particularly during month-end close.
- Sound proficiency in Microsoft tools, with confidence using data to review, analyse and support decision-making.
- A strong integrity, compliance and customer service mindset.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and engage with stakeholders across teams.
Nice to have (Desired skills/experiences)
- Experience with SAP or other financial systems.
- Exposure to intercompany accounting, accounts payable or shared services processes.
- Interest in process improvement, automation or system-based problem solving.
- Curiosity for data analytics and using insights to improve accuracy, efficiency and outcomes.
- A learning mindset and interest in continuing to develop your accounting career.
