Description

Volunteers of America Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) to join our growing team and help launch our new Integrated Behavioral Health Clinic (IBHC)

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new program that brings together substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health services, care coordination, peer support, and whole-person care within a single collaborative setting. As a SUDP, you'll help individuals build healthier futures while shaping a program that increases access to compassionate, person-centered care.

Why You'll Love This Role

At VOA, we meet people where they are and believe recovery is possible for everyone.

In this role, you'll support individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, many of whom are navigating significant life challenges such as homelessness, housing instability, trauma, poverty, and barriers to healthcare access. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, remove barriers to treatment, and help people move toward stability, wellness, and recovery.

You'll also have the opportunity to:

  • Help launch a new integrated behavioral health program.
  • Work alongside mental health clinicians, peer support specialists, care coordinators, and healthcare providers in a collaborative environment.
  • Serve diverse community members through a whole-person, recovery-oriented approach to care.
  • Make a meaningful impact on individuals, families, and the community.
  • Grow professionally within a mission-driven organization committed to innovation and service.

Benefits

  • 8 paid holidays plus up to 5 floating holidays
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance (approximately $12,000-$15,000 annual value)
  • Employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability coverage
  • Generous PTO, including vacation and sick leave
  • 403(b) retirement plan
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible employer
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

What You'll Do

  • Conduct substance use disorder assessments and establish diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services.
  • Support recovery planning, treatment engagement, and relapse prevention.
  • Coordinate care with internal teams, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • Connect participants with resources and services that support long-term recovery and stability.
  • Maintain timely clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and quality improvement efforts.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Current Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) certification in good standing.
  • Associate degree in behavioral health, psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or a related field.
  • Eligibility to provide Medicaid-reimbursable substance use disorder treatment services.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to complete required background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience in integrated behavioral health settings.
  • Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Experience serving underserved or vulnerable populations.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.

Join Our Team

If you're a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) who is passionate about recovery, integrated care, and serving individuals facing complex behavioral health and social challenges, we'd love to hear from you. Join VOA Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho and help build a new program that expands access to life-changing behavioral health and recovery services.
