Overview
The ideal engineer will be able to identify the bottlenecks within the process by using engineering methods and data analysis. The person will develop improved and more efficient methods for the manufacturing associates without sacrificing safety or quality, as well as involved the operators in the process. The person will develop the ability to be able to develop methods for assembly for new designs. In addition, the person will root cause issues generated by the manufacturing or handling of the product and develop containment, interim corrective actions, and permanent actions. They will be responsible for learning how FMEAs work, update FMEAs, and the link to developing/update control plans. The role is responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining the work instructions for all assembly processes. This is a hands-on role building the batteries, assembling the packs into counterweights, and running the testing/charging process will be required at times. This is a full-time opportunity. Finally, the role also requires the use to develop layouts for the equipment and plant specific to the assembly processes.
Responsibilities
- Identify process issues and develop corrective actions
- Identify efficiency opportunities, prove them out, then implement changes
- Support associate issues to develop resolutions or communicate proper assembly techniques
- Develop and maintain work instructions
- Learn / support development / and maintain FMEAs and control plans
- Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures; update as necessary for design changes or efficiency improvements
- Troubleshoot process related issues affecting safety and product quality
- Maintain and interpret redline drawings and process notes for deviations to product and process documentation
- Contribute to DFM feedback to engineering
- Monitor & maintain equipment to meet company standards
- Read shop work orders (traveler) and follow production work instructions
- Follow proper material handling instructions
- Follow approved ESD prevention practices
- Perform time studies of manufacturing processes; identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements
- Develop and implement process monitoring tools (e.g. control charts, maintenance plans, etc).
- Provide input on quality issues, possible solutions, and resolutions status if process is at fault
Qualifications
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Engineering/Technical Degree or equivalent experience
- Preferred minimum 2 years in manufacturing
- Preferred knowledge and the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in collection and analysis of failure data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Develop processes and testing plans to support designs
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Statistical analysis to support decision making
- High level trade off decisions based on financials
