Job Description Summary

The Global Markets Marketing Investments Process Leader owns the standard work for Zero-Based Budgeting across Global Markets. The role will implement, drive adoption of, and sustain ZBB as the operating model for Marketing investment planning, prioritization, governance, reporting, and decision-making.
The leader will translate ZBB methodology into practical workflows, tools, dashboards, and governance routines that improve investment visibility, funding discipline, accountability, and operational efficiency across zones.

The role will start with phased implementation and then shift to sustainment: ensuring the process is understood, followed, measured, and continuously improved as business priorities evolve.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the global Marketing ZBB standard-work model across in-scope Global Markets zones, including USCAN, EAGM, Europe, LATAM, ISA, AKA, and Japan.
  • Lead phased implementation of ZBB, including process design, stakeholder alignment, rollout planning, training, change management, and adoption tracking.
  • Define and maintain the practical ZBB operating model for Marketing, including investment intake, prioritization, funding allocation, approvals, decision rights, timelines, required inputs, review expectations, escalation paths, and reporting.
  • Partner with Zone Marketing, Finance, Strategy, and Marketing Operations leaders to align ZBB with annual planning cycles, business priorities, investment governance, and zone operating rhythms.
  • Build and improve ZBB tools, templates, trackers, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Facilitate governance routines such as investment reviews, exception management, action tracking, leadership updates, issue resolution, and post-cycle retrospectives.
  • Monitor sustainment through standard-work adherence, quality of submissions, tool usage, data completeness, timeline compliance, and leadership reporting readiness.
  • Develop KPIs and executive-ready reporting that show investment requests, approved funding, committed spend, actuals, forecast changes, variances, risks, and reallocation opportunities.
  • Identify process gaps, duplication, data quality issues, and barriers to adoption; partner with Lean, process, tools, and operational excellence teams to simplify, automate, and strengthen workflows.
  • Drive behavior adoption through communications, training materials, playbooks, user guides, FAQs, feedback loops, and continuous improvement routines.
  • Act as the central process owner and connector across zones and functions to clarify ownership, resolve issues, remove barriers, and balance global consistency with practical zone-specific needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Marketing Operations, Commercial Operations, Finance, Budget Management, Strategic Planning, Business Operations, or a related operational leadership role.
  • Experience implementing standard work, governance processes, operating rhythms, or planning frameworks across a complex matrixed organization.
  • Strong understanding of marketing budget management, investment planning, prioritization, forecasting, spend tracking, variance management, and performance reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from design through implementation, adoption, sustainment, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities across global stakeholders and competing timelines.
  • Ability to influence without authority and communicate clearly with senior leaders, finance partners, zone marketers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience creating or managing dashboards, trackers, templates, process documentation, reporting tools, and leadership updates.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with Zero-Based Budgeting, marketing investment governance, annual operating planning, Marketing budget management, or portfolio prioritization.
  • Finance degree or finance-facing experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, accruals, purchase orders, invoice tracking, or spend governance.
  • Experience using Smartsheet, Workfront, Power BI, Tableau, or similar planning, workflow, dashboarding, or reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodology, process mapping, Kaizen/workout facilitation, or continuous improvement tools.
  • Healthcare industry or commercial marketing experience; ability to work flexible hours to support global stakeholders.

Success in this role will look like:

  • ZBB is implemented, adopted, and sustained as standard work across in-scope Global Markets zones.
  • Zone teams understand expectations, timelines, tools, decision rights, and leadership review requirements.
  • Leadership has clear visibility into investment requests, funding decisions, approved budgets, committed spend, actuals, variances, risks, and reallocation opportunities.
  • ZBB is embedded into annual planning and ongoing budget governance, not treated as a one-time project or finance exercise.
  • Teams spend less time reconciling inconsistent inputs and more time making disciplined, data-informed investment decisions.
