ABOUT THE ROLE
Roland Foods is seeking a Logistics Associate who will be responsible for supporting the importation of goods from our suppliers in 50+ countries to our North American distribution network. The successful candidate will be someone who is eager to learn, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is extremely attentive to detail.
As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Assist with purchase order and container-level follow-up to ensure orders move from supplier readiness through final warehouse receipt
- Track shipment milestones, monitor ETAs, and proactively flag delays to the Logistics team, Sales, Replenishment, and warehouses
- Review shipping documents for accuracy before submission, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates, and arrival notices
- Support customs and regulatory compliance by coordinating documentation for FDA, USDA, and Customs exams or holds
- Monitor demurrage, detention, storage, and other accessorial risks and escalate potential cost exposure before charges are incurred
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, truckers, suppliers, and warehouses to support timely clearance and delivery
- Maintain accurate landed cost, freight, duty, and shipment-related data in ERP and shipment tracking systems
- Assist with invoice review and discrepancy resolution for freight, broker, drayage, storage, and warehouse charges
- Support internal reporting and KPI tracking, including on-time delivery, port delays, customs holds, carrier performance, and shipment exceptions
- Help maintain SOPs and process documentation for import, customs, and shipment tracking workflows
- Support issue resolution for inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, short shipments, overages, and missing documents
- Process inbounds in ERP systems to ensure inventory is available for orders
QUALFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field strongly desired
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, import, export, or a related field
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
Preferred
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and work cross-functionally
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated track record of identifying problems and developing solutions
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems, specifically Microsoft D365
SALARY RANGE
Roland Foods hires exceptional people to perform a wide variety of functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways Roland Foods does that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $60,000 - $75,000.
Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferrable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion the salary offered.
