We are seeking an outstanding Senior Lecturer in Clinical Epidemiology who will contribute to excellence in teaching, research, leadership and service within the School of Public Health and the Master of Clinical Epidemiology program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research and education, expanding knowledge and practice in the discipline, with a particular focus on advancing clinical epidemiology, evidence-based healthcare, and research methodologies relevant to clinical and population health

• establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university, including with health services, clinical networks, research institutes, and partners within the Westmead Health and Research Precinct and Centre for Kidney Research

• coordinate and engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university’s expectations and standards for education, including supervising higher degree research students to successful completions, and contributing to the delivery of the Master of Clinical Epidemiology program and related postgraduate coursework offerings

• coordinate, develop and continually improve curricula, programs and resources to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, including incorporating contemporary clinical epidemiology methods, digital learning resources, innovative pedagogical approaches, and authentic assessment practices

• provide leadership that has a significant impact on teaching, innovation, curriculum development, research training and supervision within the school or faculty, including leading curriculum renewal and applied learning initiatives within clinical epidemiology education

• understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda.

• establish partnerships, collaborations and engage in translational research for impactful outcomes in research, development, commercialisation, and policy improvement, including investigator-led and collaborative multicentre clinical research studies and clinical trials

• lead and contribute to competitive research funding applications and develop an internationally recognised program of research in clinical epidemiology and chronic disease

• provide academic leadership in the design, coordination and delivery of capstone, project-based or applied learning experiences that prepare students for real-world clinical research and healthcare settings

• strengthen interdisciplinary and translational research initiatives through collaboration across academic, clinical, and healthcare sectors, supporting improved health outcomes and health equity.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology, Public Health, or a closely related discipline

• experience teaching within a Master of Clinical Epidemiology or equivalent postgraduate program and coordinating high-quality postgraduate units

• current AHPRA registration and substantial experience in Australian clinical practice and healthcare settings

• demonstrated expertise in clinical epidemiology methodologies, including diagnostic and screening test evaluation, and clinical research design

• significant experience leading curriculum development, course renewal, and innovative teaching approaches across online, blended and face-to-face learning environments

• a strong research track record in clinical epidemiology, including experience leading or contributing to clinical research studies, clinical trials, and high-quality peer-reviewed publications

• demonstrated success, or strong potential for success, in securing competitive research funding and developing an impactful research program

• experience supervising Higher Degree by Research students to successful completion and mentoring early-career researchers

• expertise in clinical research relevant to chronic disease and the ability to contribute to interdisciplinary and translational research initiatives

• highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across multidisciplinary teams, health services and academic environments

• demonstrated contributions to academic leadership, governance, professional service and administration within higher education, healthcare organisations, or professional bodies

• the ability to develop and strengthen partnerships with clinical networks, particularly within the Westmead Health and Research Precinct and the Centre for Kidney Research.

Desirable

• experience conducting multisite clinical research and participating in national or international research collaborations

• established links with health service providers and research organisations, particularly within the Westmead Health and Research Precinct

• experience contributing to professional learning, micro-credential, or modular educational initiatives.
