Your opportunity

Join Mission Australia's Residential Aged Care team and play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and quality of life of our residents.

As a Kitchen Hand at Benjamin Short Grove in Orange, you'll be part of a dedicated team supporting the preparation and service of nutritious meals for our residents. Working alongside the Head Chef and hospitality team, you'll help create a safe, welcoming and supportive home where residents are treated with dignity, respect and compassion. Benjamin Short Grove provides specialist residential aged care for people who have experienced homelessness, are at risk of homelessness, or are experiencing financial or social disadvantage.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and making a genuine difference in people's lives. From supporting the preparation and service of meals to helping maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment, no two days are the same, and every day offers the chance to positively impact residents' wellbeing.

We currently have shifts available on a 7-day rotating roster, including 6:00am - 2:06pm, 9:30am - 5:36pm and 1:00pm - 6:00pm, offering flexibility and the opportunity to find a roster that suits your lifestyle.

Your key responsibilities will be to

  • Support residents' dining experience by ensuring meals are served in a timely, professional and respectful manner.

  • Assist with the preparation and service of nutritious meals in accordance with food safety and quality standards.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety and infection control requirements.

  • Receive and store food deliveries safely, ensuring stock is rotated and managed correctly.

  • Complete food safety records and kitchen documentation accurately.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality hospitality service that supports residents' health and wellbeing

Requirements for success

  • Food Safety Certificate.

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality, catering, retail or customer service environment is desirable.

  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and follow instructions.

  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality and a willingness to learn.

  • A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing of older Australians

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
