A leading financial institution in Hong Kong is seeking a Rates Sales Vice President to join their expanding team. This role offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal part in building out the G7 Rates business with Asia ex-Japan and China coverage, while working closely with a knowledgeable and supportive global network. What you'll do:

As a Rates Sales Vice President based in Hong Kong, you will be at the forefront of driving growth within the G7 Rates business across Asia ex-Japan and China. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve nurturing existing relationships with key institutional clients such as Central Banks and Insurance companies while actively onboarding new accounts to expand the franchise. You will collaborate extensively with both local and global teams—including Flow Products Sales, Trading, DCM, Research, and affiliate entities—to ensure that clients receive tailored solutions that meet their unique needs. By identifying cross-market sales opportunities and promoting electronic trading capabilities where required by trading desks, you will help maximise profitability for the organisation. Your ability to anticipate client enquiries, provide clear explanations of product risks and rewards, and promote product placement across diverse client types will be essential for success. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing all relevant risks within the firm’s appetite using advanced risk management models and monitoring tools. Conducting business in line with regulatory requirements such as Volcker, EMIR, MIFID etc., you will contribute significantly to protecting and enhancing the firm’s reputation while delivering exceptional service.

  • Support the build out of the G7 Rates business with Asia ex-Japan and China coverage by leveraging your expertise in rates products and market trends.

  • Refresh and revive relationships with Central Banks, Real Money Insurance companies, Fast Money accounts, and onboard new accounts to strengthen the franchise.

  • Identify crossing opportunities in collaboration with the Asian franchise, ensuring seamless integration of client needs across regions.

  • Work closely with the Flow Products Sales Team to develop a comprehensive global credit/rates experience for Asia-based clients.

  • Deliver and grow a sustainable, client-focused, flow-oriented Rates business by maximising profitability from leveraging the Group’s customer franchise.

  • Partner with Sales, Trading, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and Research teams globally to deliver tailored products that meet diverse client requirements.

  • Collaborate with relevant teams within affiliate entities to advance business objectives globally across affiliates.

  • Expand the size and diversity of the client base by proactively creating trade ideas and new business proposals that address client needs.

  • Anticipate and respond to client enquiries (both electronic and voice) with competitive pricing while clearly explaining risks and rewards associated with products.

  • Promote product placement across a wide range of client types including Asset Managers, Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, Hedge Funds, and Private Banks worldwide.

What you bring:

To excel as a Rates Sales Vice President in Hong Kong, you will bring proven experience covering institutional clients within banking or finance sectors. Your deep understanding of rates products—especially US Treasury instruments and USD swaps—will enable you to deliver insightful solutions tailored to complex client needs. Your analytical mindset ensures meticulous attention to detail when pricing transactions or managing risk positions. Interpersonal skills are paramount; you’ll connect seamlessly with colleagues across global networks while nurturing trust-based relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds. Communication abilities are critical as you explain intricate product features clearly while influencing stakeholders positively. Fluency in English—and Mandarin—will allow you to engage effectively with both international partners and regional clients. Your familiarity with industry regulations ensures compliance at every stage of transaction execution.

  • University graduate in Banking/Finance or related discipline is required for this position.

  • At least 6 years’ experience covering institutional clients is essential for success in this role.

  • A good working knowledge of industry trends, products, relevant laws, regulations is necessary for effective performance.

  • Strong expertise in Rates knowledge & experience—particularly US Treasury and USD swap—is highly preferred.

  • An analytical background with strong attention to detail is vital for accurate pricing and risk management.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are needed for networking across global teams and building lasting client relationships.

  • Strong communication skills are required for influencing others effectively and selling products confidently.

  • Good command of written and spoken English is mandatory; proficiency in Mandarin is also required for engaging regional clients.
