Job Scope

High level purpose of function.

To ensure the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of all manufacturing and production equipment. This role is crucial for minimizing equipment downtime, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and providing technical expertise to support daily production goals. The ideal candidate has deep understanding of manufacturing equipment from design to ramp up. Maintaining a close relationship with manufacturing engineering to ensure a stable and well documented process.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

• Equipment Reliability: Develop, implement, and maintain effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules to maximize equipment uptime (OEE) and service life.
• Troubleshooting & Analysis: Provide technical support to rapidly diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on production equipment.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures, developing and implementing corrective and preventative actions to eliminate recurring issues.
• Design & Installation: Assist in the design and development of equipment upgrades, modifications, and new equipment installations, ensuring seamless integration into the production environment.
• Documentation & Compliance: Create and maintain accurate equipment documentation, including schematics, maintenance procedures, and training materials, ensuring compliance with ISO and safety standards.
• Support the design, acceptance, installation and ramp up of new equipment and upgrades.
• Ensure the equipment meets safety and regulatory requirements. Such as, CE requirements.

Accountability/Authorization

• Budget responsibility: Yes, can have CAPEX budget responsibility for small to medium sized equipment upgrades. Also, accountable for recommending cost-effective solutions and spare parts inventory management
• Direct reports: No
• Manager work environment responsibility: No
• All employees are accountable for complying with safety regulations and actively supporting a safe workplace.
• Decision Authority: Authorized to stop equipment operation in the event of immediate safety or quality risk. Can propose and execute approved PM and corrective maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Educational background and previous experience required for the role.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, reliability engineering, or a similar role, in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with automated equipment, roll-to-roll processing, and/or chemical processing.

Qualifications and experience

• Foundational knowledge of regulated quality systems (e.g. CE, ISO9001 or GMP)
• Experience with PLC programming, automation, and control systems is highly desirable.
• Experience providing technical training to operational staff.

Specific skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools for monitoring equipment performance and reliability.
