Job Description
Trek Bicycle is looking for a dynamic, driven leader who can support product compliance development for various products. Should have a strong desire to be part of the development of innovative products and technology. The ability to research, interpret, and create necessary strategies to meet applicable regulations is essential. Must be a self-starter who can identify solutions to the company’s needs with little instruction. Should be able to find opportunities and gaps. This person will report to the Product Compliance Manager and must be able to work cross-functionally with various internal teams to ensure we successfully meet the relative regulations in requested sales markets. The ideal candidate should have a working application of the English language.
Areas of Focus:
- Chemical Compliance as it relates to CPSC, REACH, RoHS, ECHA, TOSCA, and SCIP
- Children’s bicycles and components for product and regulatory compliance
- EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) reporting
- Electric bicycle and component compliance
- Battery compliance and third part certification
- Regulatory knowledge pertaining to manuals, labels, and packaging
Specific Skills or Knowledge:
- Possess strong investigative research skills and ability to understand regulations and standards
- Ability to review BOM’s (Bills of Materials) for product
- Bicycle mechanics and functional application of bicycle systems
- Ability to present and communicate legal and technical details to a wide audience
- Collaborate with engineering to identify and implement product compliance requirements
- Work with Trek suppliers and participate in clear direction and knowledge growth
- Work with global subsidiaries and suppliers in product testing, certification, and type-approval
- Assist in coordinating third-party testing in global labs and support investigation of failures
- Organize/maintain documentation for compliance (e.g. certifications, test reports, technical files, etc.)
- Experience working with standards development (ASTM, ANSI, IEC, ISO, etc.)
- Ability to assist product development teams with compliance budgets and scheduling
- Development of compliance strategies to reduce costs and time to market
General Skills or Knowledge:
- Manage multiple projects at the same time; prioritize and possess a sense of urgency
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle complex issues and provide clear, actional advice
- Ability to function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and objectives
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- Possible international travel and participate with international standards development
Training: Technical writing, Excel Pivot Tables, BI (Business intelligence), drafting process and procedures, project management
