This role is a Project Hire with no guarantee of permanent placement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Design and create exclusive Costume Designs for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.  

  • Design Skill to include full color renderings. Ability to research from any media. Oversee fabric and trim selections for all designs with the capacity to direct custom textile art. 

  • Provide pattern instruction to the completion of a project with pattern change and costume prototype oversight, including supervision of costume fittings 

  • Ability to maintain labor budgets throughout the design process. 

  • Direct support staff in the development of textile prints and garment construction documentation (technical flat drawings) and Storyboard development.  

  • Independently provide design decisions that support Park and Resorts functional and safety requirements domestic and international for Character, Entertainment and Operational costume designs 

  • Interface with Costumers, Project Managers, Character Design and Development, WDI Art Directors, WDI Executives and Walt Disney Entertainment Creative Directors, Portfolio Leaders and Show Directors for all artwork presentations 

  • Partner with Entertainment and Creative Costuming to ensure costume quality and design is consistently maintained and influence changes for improvement in the design and development 

  • Mentor peers with administrative responsibilities, time sheets, project tracking, art software instruction and design process 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or Costume Design 

  • Minimum 5 years design experience in live show production, Theatre, Film or Fashion Design  

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of textile development and garment construction 

  • Must understand complexity of design and its relationship to production costs 

  • Demonstrate ability to use Wacom Cintiq tablet for sketching 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated technical skills to utilize Photoshop, Illustrator or other equivalent software

  • Demonstrated strong presentation skills and public speaking

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $76,197.50-$102,152.50 per year based on a 29hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
