Interim Finance Systems Accountant

Scarborough | £450 - £550 per day | Ongoing Interim Contract | Office Based with Flexibility

Are you an experienced finance professional who enjoys getting under the skin of systems, improving processes and turning finance projects into practical results?

This is an opportunity to join an established business at an important stage of its finance development. You will take ownership of several high-impact projects spanning Sage 200 Professional, automation, lease accounting and financial reporting, while working closely with the wider finance team to improve how the function operates.

With an ongoing contract and a day rate of £450 - £550, this assignment offers plenty of variety and the chance to make a visible difference rather than simply maintain business-as-usual reporting.

What you'll be doing

You will provide hands-on support across finance systems, technical accounting and process improvement, including:

• Driving the remaining stages of the Sage 200 Professional implementation and helping ensure the system delivers effectively for the finance team
• Introducing and embedding OCR technology to improve invoice processing and accounts payable efficiency
• Implementing lease accounting software and supporting accurate reporting in line with FRS 102 requirements
• Supporting year-end reporting, statutory accounts preparation and the external audit process
• Assessing existing finance controls, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement
• Developing more efficient and robust processes across the finance function
• Supporting wider ERP, automation and finance transformation initiatives as priorities develop
• Working with stakeholders across the business to ensure new systems and processes are practical, understood and successfully adopted

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who can move comfortably between technical accounting, systems projects and the detail required to get improvements delivered.

You'll need:

• Strong working knowledge of Sage 200 Professional, with practical involvement in implementation, upgrades, configuration or system development
• A strong technical accounting background, including statutory reporting, year-end accounts and audit
• Knowledge of lease accounting requirements under FRS 102
• Proven ability to review and strengthen financial controls and processes
• Experience contributing to ERP or finance systems projects
• The ability to take ownership of projects while remaining comfortable with hands-on finance work

Exposure to OCR or accounts payable automation, IFRS 16, post-acquisition accounting or broader finance transformation projects would also be beneficial.

This is an ongoing interim assignment based in Scarborough, paying £450 - £550 per day.

The role is predominantly office based, with some flexibility available.
