Highlights include:

Meaningful work focused on improving the health and quality of life of older adults

Opportunity to develop lasting relationships with patients and their families

Focus on comprehensive care rather than episodic medicine

Opportunity to manage complex medical conditions while addressing functional, cognitive, psychosocial, and quality-of-life needs

Support of an established regional health system

Epic electronic health record

Practice in a community where your expertise can have a visible and lasting impact

What You’ll Do

As a Geriatrician, you will provide comprehensive medical care to older adults, including patients in long-term care settings. Your work will include:

Conducting comprehensive geriatric assessments, including medical history, physical examination, functional status, cognitive health, and medication review

Developing individualized care plans based on each patient’s medical needs, personal goals, and quality-of-life priorities

Managing complex chronic illnesses and multiple comorbidities common among older adults

Evaluating medication regimens and helping reduce unnecessary or potentially inappropriate medications

Collaborating with nursing, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation professionals, specialists, social services, and other members of the care team

Partnering with patients, families, and caregivers to support informed decision-making and care planning

Providing education regarding disease management, healthy aging, preventive care, and available resources

Coordinating care across specialties and healthcare settings to promote continuity

Participating in interdisciplinary meetings and quality-improvement initiatives

Applying current evidence-based practices in geriatrics and long-term care medicine

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a physician who is passionate about caring for older adults and values the relationships that are central to geriatric medicine.

Qualifications include:

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine

Fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine preferred

Eligible for an unrestricted Maine medical license

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team

Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and shared decision-making

Experience with Epic or other electronic health record systems preferred

More Than a Job—An Opportunity to Practice Medicine with Purpose
