Description
The Lakeville Area Arts Center is seeking Community Theatre Staff to join our team for the 2026-2027 Expressions Theatre season. Immediate opportunities include Stage and Props Managers, alongside open calls for other production team roles.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Stage Manager: Serves as the central operational leader, driving communication between the cast, director, and crew while managing rehearsals, backstage execution, and live performance logistics.
Props Manager: Leads creative research and procurement, managing the show's budget to source, design, and maintain authentic stage properties.
- Participate in bringing the director’s vision for a production to fruition.
- Communicate any cast concerns to director and Arts Center Manager.
- Assist in running auditions and maintaining all resumes, headshots, and cast lists.
- Stage Manager will be the main communicator between cast, director, producer, and props manager.
- Maintain all props and movable set pieces during performances. This may include the supervision and use of items such as a fog machine. May also involve working with technicians throughout each performance.
- Collaborate with the producer to collect headshots and bios for the show program.
- Prepare space and materials for rehearsals and performances. Assist in striking set and clean up after final performance.
- Participate in bringing the director’s vision for a production to fruition.
- Plan with director (sometimes choreographer) to determine all prop needs.
- Research historical and cultural context of the production in order to choose props from the appropriate time period and region.
- Design and/or procure all props needed for each character.
- Collaborate with director to ensure appropriate props are secured.
- Communicate with cast members to ensure appropriate usage, care and storage of all props.
- Manage and stay within provided props budget.
- Communicate with Arts Center staff to purchase or be reimbursed for purchases.
- Attend 1-2 evening rehearsals and pre-production meetings.
- Place all props in appropriate storage locations and add them to Prop inventory.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:
- Is under the immediate general and technical supervision of the Arts Center Manager.
- Responds to requests or inquiries from the production director, producer, and props manager.
- Communicates and works effectively with other City personnel and patrons.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Sharp eye for detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Proven work experience in community theatre, as a Props Manager, Stage manager, or community theatre related roles.
- Relevant training, certificates or job shadowing.
