At Truckstops, we're passionate about keeping New Zealand's transport industry moving. To make sure that happens, we're looking for an experienced Diesel Technician to join our busy Wiri workshop. If you're a skilled tradesperson who enjoys diagnosing faults, solving technical challenges, and working on heavy vehicles in a modern workshop environment, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Diesel Technician, you'll play an important role in ensuring our customers' trucks and equipment are maintained to the highest standard. Working alongside a team of experienced professionals, you'll undertake a wide range of servicing, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance activities.
This role offers excellent variety, ongoing technical development, and the opportunity to work with advanced truck technology and industry-leading products.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair faults across heavy commercial vehicles and associated systems
Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
Complete mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs
Perform inspections and identify additional repair opportunities
Utilise diagnostic tools and manufacturer systems effectively
Complete job documentation accurately and efficiently
Ensure all work is completed safely and meets quality standards
Contribute to a positive, professional, and customer-focused workshop culture
About You
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
A recognised Heavy Automotive or Diesel Trade qualification
Experience working on heavy trucks, buses, transport equipment, or similar machinery
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Experience working with modern vehicle electronics and diagnostic software
A proactive approach to problem-solving
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to workplace health and safety
A current New Zealand driver's licence
Eligibility to work in New Zealand
A Class 2, 4, or 5 licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
