The Role
Your Role
The SAP BASIS L3 Consultant will play a key role in managing, optimizing, and ensuring the stability and smooth operation of SAP environments at an advanced technical level. The role involves handling complex and critical incidents, outages, performing in-depth root cause analysis, and leading SAP upgrades, migrations, and technical improvements.
The consultant will act as a technical subject matter expert for SAP landscape management and work closely with business stakeholders, SAP functional teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability, reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of SAP systems.
What You Will Do
Should have strong expertise in SAP BASIS administration and the ability to independently manage and troubleshoot complex SAP environments within the RISE with SAP (MSM) environment. You should demonstrate a strong technical ownership mindset, with the ability to analyze complex issues, drive incidents to resolution, and provide technical guidance to L1/L2 teams.
Should be customer-focused, with a strong commitment to system stability, availability, performance, and timely resolution of critical issues. You should also be collaborative and inclusive, working effectively with SAP functional teams, infrastructure teams, cloud teams, and global stakeholders.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Resolve complex SAP BASIS issues, including performance tuning, kernel upgrades, and system recovery. Provide expert-level support for escalated incidents and ensure minimal downtime.
System Administration: Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, PI/PO, Solution Manager, etc.) on various databases and operating systems.
Critical & Major Incident Handling: Proactively identify disruptions and service degradations, perform comprehensive root-cause and impact analysis, and provide a clear action plan for resolution, recovery, and prevention of recurrence.
Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and execute SAP system upgrades, enhancement pack installations, and database migrations. Ensure system integrity and data consistency during migrations.
System Monitoring: Implement and maintain monitoring tools, analyse logs, and proactively identify potential issues to ensure optimal system performance and availability.
Security Administration: Oversee SAP user and role administration, system security, and compliance with audit requirements. Manage authorisations and implement security patches.
Disaster Recovery & Backup: Design, implement, and regularly test backup and disaster recovery strategies for all SAP landscapes.
Performance Optimisation: Conduct regular performance analysis of SAP systems, databases, and interfaces. Recommend and implement tuning measures.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials for L1 and L2 teams.
Should be proficient in acting as the last line of defence by performing deep-dive analysis of major and critical issues, providing expert insights during Major Incident calls while representing Kyndryl, and actively supporting the resolution of MCOs and other critical technical challenges.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Liaise with SAP support, hardware vendors, and internal stakeholders for issue resolution and system improvements.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Strong hands-on expertise in SAP BASIS administration across S/4HANA, ECC, and NetWeaver environments.
Strong understanding of SAP system architecture, including Application, Database, OS, and integration layers.
Proven experience in L3 incident management, including handling critical and major incidents and performing deep-dive technical troubleshooting.
Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and define effective corrective and preventive action plans.
Strong experience in SAP RISE with SAP (MSM) operational and delivery processes.
Expertise in system monitoring, alert analysis, incident management, and problem management within an enterprise environment.
Strong knowledge of SAP HANA database administration and troubleshooting concepts.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems relevant to SAP environments.
Experience in SAP system performance analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with SAP kernel upgrades, support package upgrades, system refreshes, and technical maintenance activities.
Strong understanding of SAP transport management, user administration, system copies, and configuration management.
Ability to independently handle complex technical issues and act as the last line of defence for critical incidents.
RISE with SAP / Cloud Expertise
Strong practical experience working within the RISE with SAP / Managed Service (MSM) delivery model.
Good understanding of SAP RISE operational processes, responsibilities, service management, and coordination with SAP/infrastructure teams.
Hands-on experience with SAP monitoring and management tools, such as SAP Focused Run (FRUN), Solution Manager, and relevant monitoring platforms.
Good understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, preferably in AWS, Azure, or GCP, in the context of SAP RISE.
Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup/restore, and business continuity concepts in SAP environments.
Experience with automation and runbook execution, including scripting and automation of routine BASIS activities.
Strong understanding of SAP security, certificates/PSE, connectivity, compliance, and operational security practices.
