Graham Packaging is seeking and EHS Intern for its Graham Technical Center in York, PA.
Responsibilities
Goal of Program:
The goal of the EH&S Intern will be to enhance your technical and interpersonal skills while effectively reducing the safety and health risk to our employees and increasing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide on-site EH&S support for the Graham Tech Center:
- Conduct safety audits and compliance walkthroughs
- Perform machine guarding assessments
- Develop machine lockout/tagout energy control procedures
- Conduct and track EH&S training sessions including:
- Lockout/Tagout Authorized Person Training
- Forklift Operator Training
- Aerial Work Platform Operator Training
- Personal Fall Arrest Equipment User Training
- Attend and participate in location Safety Committee meetings
- Assists with near-miss and accident investigations and corrective actions
- Assist with EH&S communications, EH&S promotional activities (Safety Month), and rewards and recognition programs
- Track, trend, and report out on leading and lagging EH&S Key Performance Indicators
- Manage various EH&S databases including
- Incident Reporting Database
- SDS Management Database
- Learning Management (Training Database)
- Assist with 3rd party contractor management process
Example Projects:
#1 Working with Corporate EH&S professionals to evaluate hazardous energy sources on machines and equipment, develop and write task specific energy control (lockout/tagout) procedures to reduce the risk of fatal and serious injury to personnel performing servicing and maintenance work.
#2 Assist the Tech Center in an EH&S training needs evaluation and develop a training matrix (plan) to ensure all personnel receive the EH&S training as required by their job classification. Assists Corporate EH&S professional and other Tech Center personnel in conducting the required EH&S training sessions.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements

- Advanced Junior or Senior
- Major in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or similar program
- Fundamental knowledge of EH&S principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DEP regulations
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
