Description
What will you be doing?
- Provide primary laboratory support and expert practical guidance to visiting healthcare professionals during surgical training courses and educational events.
- Demonstrate the use of surgical instruments, implants, and equipment to maximize learning opportunities and support effective training delivery.
- Troubleshoot Smith+Nephew and laboratory equipment, escalating issues when required.
- Collaborate with Sales, Medical Education, Marketing, Research and Development, and Sales Training teams to facilitate successful training programs and customer visits.
- Handle human tissue specimens in accordance with local SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Support the training and development of internal employees, including sales, marketing, research and development, and leadership team members.
- Manage laboratory operations including equipment maintenance, specimen care, inventory control, PPE and consumables management, and housekeeping activities.
- Support compliance activities through SOP and risk assessment review, documentation management, and adherence to governing body requirements.
- Maintain accurate health, safety, and environmental records while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
What will you need to be successful?
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working in a medical, healthcare, or laboratory environment.
- Experience working directly with healthcare professionals, ideally within a surgical setting.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical products, and relevant medical devices.
- Customer facing experience with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Understanding of health and safety practices related to biological materials and laboratory environments.
- Experience with inventory management and document management systems, with SAP experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
- Flexibility to support varying work schedules and occasional domestic and international travel.
The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $81,750 - $122,000 USD annually (or hourly) The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
