This newly created role requires deep technical expertise, strong analytical capabilities, high discretion, and comfort operating in environments with evolving risks, regulatory requirements, and operational ambiguity.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

Insurance Program Strategy & Administration

  • Help develop and support the company’s insurance strategy and portfolio, including property, casualty, executive liability, cyber, and specialized aerospace coverages.
  • Support insurance program budgeting, premium allocation, forecasting, invoice reconciliation, and cost reporting.
  • Support renewal cycles, negotiate policy terms and pricing, evaluate coverage options, and maintain strong carrier relationships.
  • Assess and implement alternative risk financing strategies, including self-insurance or captive options.

Risk Identification, Assessment & Modeling

  • Manage systems and processes used to identify, track, and quantify insurable risks across business units, programs, and facilities.

  • Develop and maintain departmental work processes and procedures that support consistent execution, effective controls, operational continuity, and business scalability.
  • Provide support for claims processes as needed, including coordination with internal and external partners.
  • Lead the review of, and negotiate insurance and indemnification language within customer, supplier, and government contracts.

Compliance & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support compliance with applicable insurance regulations, corporate governance requirements, contractual obligations, and Aerospace & Defense industry requirements.
  • Partner with legal, procurement, finance, operations, and program teams to align risk transfer strategies with organizational objectives.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Must have prior experience leading, developing, and mentoring an insurance and risk management team.
  • Oversee team outputs, vendor engagement, and cross-functional risk mitigation initiatives.

Decision-Making & Executive Communication

  • Must be comfortable making decisions with limited information and navigating ambiguous situations.
  • Prepare executive reports and dashboards summarizing program performance, emerging risks, insurance costs, and recommended actions.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Travel Requirement

Must have ability to travel as needed, typically less than 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 11+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of management experience.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 15 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Risk Management processes with respect to coverage placement, contract review, insurance compliance, claims management, insurance recovery, and other facets related to protection of company assets.
  • The ability to independently and collaboratively drive strategy to address complex risks and Business stakeholder concerns.
  • Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity, and own those decisions.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Professional certification(s) in risk or insurance such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP).
