POSITION/ROLE OVERVIEW
The New School Concerts Department at the College of Performing Arts seeks a highly motivated student to serve as Schneider Concerts Usher, student assistant. We’re looking for a(n) responsible, outgoing, music-loving individuals to provide both a welcoming and efficient presence at our chamber music concerts. This position reports to the Director, New School Concerts and is an ideal position for students who are interested in a career in the live performing arts and events fields.
This position is open to student applicants with Federal Work Study awards, as well as student applicants without a Federal Work Study award.
CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Check concert ticket buyers in at event using Splashthat app (training provided);
Interact conversationally with event patrons - providing patrons with directions to available seats, exits, box office, restrooms, and other information
Answer onsite questions as needed
Ensure entrances and exits are not blocked, security guard has good visibility, and there is no crowding in lobby area or aisles
Direct those with disabilities in finding appropriate, available seats and other supports
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
Comfortability interacting with members of the public
Timeliness
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Love and knowledge of chamber music a plus
Federal Work Study Award letter
WORK MODE
This position is in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. #LI-DNI
HOURLY RATE: $17.50
Hours per Week: as needed on the following six Sundays: 10/4/2026, 11/15/2026, 12/6/2026, 1/31/2027, 3/14/2027, 4/25/2027. Not to exceed 20 hours in a single workweek while classes are in session.
