Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the administration of the Assistance Payments Unit, managing Assistance Payments staff who are responsible for eligibility determination for all assistance payments programs.

Essential Job Functions:

Position performs all supervisory and administrative functions of the Assistance Payments Unit. Establishes goals and objectives for staff of multiple units. 

Arranges work operations and assigns work to multiple units. Aids individuals in the AP Unit in planning and prioritizing work schedules to ensure that work is accomplished timely and deadlines are met. Meet with each unit to review performance. Assists and trains employees on an individual basis with any new duties that have been assigned.

Instructs staff for techniques to accomplish tasks, motivates and coaches units’ staff. Communicates unit goals and objectives. Establishes performance standards for individual staff. Collects performance data and appraises individual performance against established standards. 

Provides daily and/or weekly assistance to each unit to determine or resolve any problems that have or may occur. Communicate daily and/or weekly with the unit to ensure that their job duties are being performed accurately and that any complaints either from co-workers or clients are resolved in a timely manner.

Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Desired Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative, professional and clerical staff, and the ability to relate to different cultures and ethnic groups. Communicate and work effectively with people of various skills and backgrounds. 

Training and/or Education Experience:

High School Diploma

3-5 years public assistance/CBMS experience

Advanced knowledge of CBMS and State and Federal Rules and Regulations.

Ability to organize workload, set priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.

Physical Demands: 

100% of work is in a standard office environment requiring normal physical effort.

The most difficult aspect of the assignment is making sure that all actions taken are correct and will not lead to adverse consequences. Organizing, coordinating, and administering the various functions of the three Units and working within the rules and regulations of all programs is also difficult.

Unusual Demands

Work is subject to frequent interruptions and inflexible deadlines.
