Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our Work Management organization at the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Monticello, MN or Prairie Island Nuclear Plant in Welch, MN. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in computer information systems while supporting improvement efforts in work management. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. 

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to support operational and management decision making. 
• Collect, organize and analyze data from multiple data sources to improve data accuracy and accessibility
• Design and implement automated reporting processes that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
• Collaborate with staff to understand business processes, identify reporting needs and translate them into meaningful data visualizations and performance metrics.
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology and analytics to improve workflows, operational performance and strategic decision making. 

This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework
• Proficiency with tools such as SQL, Power BI, Excel (Power Query/ Pivot Tables) and Python.

Non-Bargaining

 

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.90 to $22.10 per hour

 

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
