Position Opening: Line Cook

**All candidates MUST apply directly at our restaurant anytime between 10am and 5pm Monday-Friday.**

 

Job Summary

You’ll be responsible for preparing and executing our menu with consistency, care, and attention to detail, while working as part of a collaborative kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft, enjoys working with their hands, and is excited to learn and grow within a team that cares about quality and hospitality. You’ll ensure proper service from the front line through quality control, training of line cooks and ensure proper sanitation levels.

 

Responsibilities

• Check all items against the recipe cards, verify that use records are followed for all items served and that food is presented in an efficient, quality manner.
• Monitor the line set up prior to all meal functions to ensure maximum efficiency during meal periods.
• Monitor the equipment maintenance and kitchen "clean as you go" policy to ensure strict adherence.
• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per dupe from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
• Check parts for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up.
• Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
• Return all food items not used on the shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
• Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all dishes
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines and requirements
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness in shared spaces, including the dining room as needed
• Monitor product levels and assist with stocking and organization
• Help ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations during service
• Carefully follows standard recipes while preparing assigned items for food service 
• Consistently uses safe and sanitary food handling practices 
• Assists other cooks during emergencies or rush periods 
• Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices 
• Assists in plating food items for service 
• Cleans assigned work station areas 
• Ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters 
• Carefully follows instructions and procedures set and communicated by the Chef

Other Functions

• Support dishwashing and general kitchen upkeep as needed
• Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with team members
• Maintain a positive and respectful working environment
• Interact with guests when needed and help address questions or concerns
• Assist with prep, station setup, and breakdown before, during, and after service
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment and storage areas
• Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss and usage per SOP.

Physical Functions

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to withstand extremely high temperatures during an entire shift. Resilience to work with hot stovetops, pots, pans, ingredients.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying: Position regularly involves lifting food cases and metros weighing up to 50 lbs. Items include food, small equipment -75% of the time.
• Periodic climbing required.
• Bending of the knees does become necessary when using the lower oven for cooking, 5-10 times a day.
• Mobility -full range of mobility and the ability to travel 30-50 feet on a regular basis throughout the day.
• Continuous standing -during preparation, during service hours or during expediting, usually all day.
• Must be able to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff.
• Must be able to see that product is prepared appropriately.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting preferred
• You have an appreciation for pizza, dough, and the craft that goes into it
• You’re available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Spanish speaking ability preferred
