Financial Investigations & Dispute Advisory Services Director - Post Acquisition Disputes

We are looking to hire a Northeast-based Director for the Post-Acquisition Dispute Advisory Services practice, part of RSM's Deal Services group.

 

Duties include:

·       Leading engagements and working with the post-acquisition dispute resolution team supporting both advocacy and neutral accounting arbiter engagements involving purchase price disputes.

·       Overseeing client service delivery, drafting and developing written submissions to accounting arbiters, document requests, analysis of client closing statements, including applications of U.S. GAAP and contractually prescribed accounting principles, developing positions in relation to a purchase agreement as well as disputed accounting items, earnout calculations, etc.

·       Reviewing and drafting buyer-friendly or seller-friendly purchase agreement language that is accounting-related or involves net working capital, indebtedness, etc.

·       Managing and leveraging client relationships to secure additional services

·       Familiarity or use of AI (Copilot, Claude, etc.), data analytics tools (Alteryx, IDEA, etc.), data mining and analysis, including construction of financial records, accounting data, database extracts, etc.

·       Reviewing and compiling organized working papers supportive of engagement findings and conclusions

·       Developing agendas and leading presentations, client calls, supervising staff and project teams

·       Promoting and growing the practice through collaboration with Deal Services and other RSM colleagues as well as developing and leveraging off internal and external networks to secure engagements.

·       Drafting proposals and assisting with business development activities to grow our practice (including CLE presentations, webinars, attending industry conferences, authorship of white papers, etc.)

·       Cultivating and maintaining positive, productive, and professional relationships with colleagues and clients 

 

Qualifications:

·       Minimum B.S. / B.A. degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance or Economics from an accredited university.  Master's degree a plus.

·       7-10 years of experience providing post-acquisition dispute consulting, neutral accounting arbitrations sales and reading/interpreting purchase agreements; "Big 4" or national consulting firm experience a plus as well as a background in litigation support and forensic accounting investigations.

·       Subject matter expertise with purchase price dispute engagements, neutral accounting arbitrations and reading/interpreting purchase agreements

·       Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP

·       Attained CPA and CFE or CFF certifications  

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

·       Flexibility to travel to clients and other RSM offices

·       Ability to work long hours and have flexibility to meet client deadlines

·       Strong verbal and writing and communication skills and ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner

·       Strong organizational and time management skills

·       Ability to balance multiple priorities

·       Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $126,500 - $254,700
